8/01 Post Game

Tough loss considering we could've swept and we had JJ starting.

JJ wasn't himself today, but considering how he's been all season, he's allowed an off game.

Logan's misplay of that ball really hurt, but he's still learning out there.

Just gotta come strong at the Phils on Tuesday

Well, if anything, the team is much easier to root for right now under Edwin Rodriguez, managing.

They're winning series, and they're at least fighting back in the games that they lose, against good bullpens. Good sign. This upcoming week will be a tough test. All in all, a good trip in the West Coast against the best two teams in the NL West, right now.

I still hate watching the Padres win and go to 61-42 because I feel like we have a better team on paper, but whatever.

this was not a good game to lose considering the mets and braves lost with the giants still having a chance to lose as well.

we have a tough schedule coming up and i have no f***ing idea why we cannot win 4 in a row.

last time we had that chance was the 5-2 lead against the braves that turned into an 8 run 8th inning.

this game was more than frustrating and all 3 outs in the ninth were hit hard.

The umpires today sucked, as well.

Yes they did. That play at second wasn't even close.

I was just thinking the same thing.

What sucks is Edwin don't even remember his last name just left JJ out there until he gave up the big hit. The idea is to pull him BEFORE he gives it up.

And the strike zone sucked, as well. It sucked for the pitchers through 6 innings, and then from the 7th inning on, it seemed like the Padres relievers were getting all the corners.

That was the right move.

If he takes JJ out, and one of the members of the blowpen give up that hit (which should've been an out...Morrison misplayed that), everyone's calling for Edwin's head right now, in the postgame. He stayed with his best, and he lost. Edwin managed the game well, today. The other team just won.

Leaving JJ in is the right move and I don't think there is any debate about it.

This is just a mediocre baseball team. Pains me to say it but too many things are off. Hanley just hasn't really been himself this year and every facet of the game has been wildly inconsistent. The last few seasons have been such a tease. We are still in it which is nice but we've got to start winning nore games like today. Gaby can't be swinging at the first pitch in tHat situation.

Ugh, I missed all bout the last 2 innings of this game. Good to see us fight back again against a top notch closer in Bell. Sure wish Gaby coulda hit the ball more to the right or left.

What happened? I pretty much had us sweeping with JJ going today and instead hear he wasn't himself. Morrison misplayed a ball?

Also good to hear the "superstar" finally hit a homer. Logan also had a good ab vs Bell.

Nobody would be talking about leaving JJ in if Morrison had pulled in that liner. Hit hard it was, but it was also a ball that a lot of outfielders get too (for example, Stanton has saved multiple XBH in the gap). That inning would have been over and JJ could have still gotten the win if we scored the next half inning.

He roped it but it was just right at Ludwick. He hit it hard which is all you can really ask for.

josh just struggled all day. got the first two outs in the 1st on 5 pitches than took him 25 more to get the last out.

gave up a double to hairston with the bases loaded and had logan not paused off the bat and gone back he could have caught it.

yeah if he gets it over his head no one is saying anything. you obviously wanna see him work the count but if you can hit it hard then take the rip.

man off the bat i really thought wes and gaby had hits.

Gaby swung at the first pitch, but keep in mind the ump was inconsistent. If you're going against a guy who's dealing, and despite coming close to blowing it Bell didn't look that bad, sometimes the first pitch you're gonna get is the best pitch you will get to hit the entire bat. Besides, a walk in that situation wouldn't have hurt us but it would have made it easier for the Pads to get the final out. Gaby wanted to get a hit, and he hit a ball hard that just happened to be right at the RFer.

Honestly, the swinging at the first pitch is more of an issue if you're facing a starter who you need to get his pitch count up.

way to many games where we can gainground on everyone that we have lost this year. id give jj a little more rest before the next start. he doesnt look sharp at all.
