August 13, 201015 yr Uncle Mike replaces Uncle Wes. Well, I'd say this much, I'd like to see Mike back on the Marlins.
August 13, 201015 yr I am still trying to figure out how Helms made it through the trade deadline as a Marlin.
August 13, 201015 yr How bout someone capable of playing 3rd base. It still stuns me how a gold glover in Joe Crede is still a FA.

I remember reading somewhere that he was in baseball shape about a month into the season. We'll see next season. Another issue could be that he's a Borras client and teams didn't want to bother.
August 13, 201015 yr Don't get me wrong, I dont dislike the idea...I just don't want them to screw up and sign someone who is ailing.
August 13, 201015 yr Dump Wes now! The Braves need a 3b now that Chipper is done or he can play first and move Glaus back to third.
August 13, 201015 yr Dump Wes now! The Braves need a 3b now that Chipper is done or he can play first and move Glaus back to third. Wes would play 3rd if anything and they have plenty of depth and Conrad would do a better job them Wes either way.

August 13, 201015 yr How about when Mikey is ready to retire, we get him back on the Marlins so he can retire as a Marlin, ala Jeff Conine? Just wishful thinking...
August 13, 201015 yr I find all the Wes hate pretty funny. He's done some pretty good things for this team the past couple years, both on the field and in the club house. Most likely this will be his last year playing. The contributions he has made to the Marlins gives him the right to finish out the season with us, despite what the "what have you done lately for me" crowd thinks or wants. He will most likely be back with the org in some capacity, probably as a coach in the minors to start.
August 13, 201015 yr Are you guys saying dump Wes because we have Donnie Murphy now or because you think he sucks? I hope its not the latter. He was a god around here until recently when he started a few games. I hope you guys aren't that fickle. His stats aren't down all that much from last year. He's probably still the best Marlin at working the count. If you extrapolate his stats to to 400 AB's, he'd have 90 or 100 hits. I'd rather have Beckett back.

August 13, 201015 yr I'm pretty sure I read an interview with Mike a few weeks back where he was undecided about playing next year. Doesn't mean he's done, but at the same time, it means he is thinking retirement. Not so sure this happens, especially with as much faith and "man-love" the FO and ownership have in Wes.
August 13, 201015 yr I never liked Wes Helms, so please don't put me in the "yay Uncle Wes, he's our leader" club. I think he's probably the most overrated player in the history of the Marlins organization, if anything. I said from day one of his contract that he wasn't worth a 2 year deal, especially for a "penny-pinching" organization like the Marlins have been. It is pretty hilarious that Wes Helms of all people is the only bench player allowed to make more than league minimum here, just because...well, his name is Wes Helms, I guess. By the way, he does suck now. A player with no power, a horrible .OBP, horrible K:BB ratio, and isn't stellar defensively is absolutely replaceable/this player is actually garbage and should no longer be in the big leagues.
