August 18, 201016 yr at the beginning of the day he is 5th in batting average and first in rbis and tied in homers. i think this is the year that someone finally does it again and pujols is that man. should be worth noting that he is a few hits and runs short of the league lead. a quintuple crown? that would be ridiculous edited to add Votto
August 18, 201016 yr There really isnt any real frontrunner for the battle title this year either....he has a quality shot
August 20, 201016 yr Author BA .323 Votto (1st) .314 Pujols (5th) HR 31 Pujols (T-1st) 28 Votto (T-3rd) RBI 87 Pujols (1st) 81 Votto (T-2nd) Also: Hits: Prado (144), Gonzalez (141), Pujols (139), Votto (133) Runs: Phillips (85), Votto (84), Weeks/Uggla (82), Pujols (81)
August 26, 201016 yr Wouldn't it be funny if they ended up with exactly the same batting average, home runs and RBIs and ended up first in all three? Double Triple Crown? And when I say exactly the same batting average, I mean same number of hits and at bats so it's exact exact.
August 26, 201016 yr I don't think it's going to happen. One of them will edge out the other in one of the stats.

August 26, 201016 yr Author I find it hard to bet against pujols but votto is swinging one hell of a bat. would be interested to see his home/away splits.. which i think ill do now
August 26, 201016 yr Author Wow.. and here i thought his home stats would be shattering his away stats.. boy was i wrong. batting .345 with a ginorous OPS on the road.
August 26, 201016 yr Wow.. and here i thought his home stats would be shattering his away stats.. boy was i wrong. batting .345 with a ginorous OPS on the road. I haven't even looked up the stats, but he must have a better SLG% hitting in Great American Ballpark. WOW. I was wrong by a long shot. .568 SLG% at home while .634 on the road. Thats crazy.
August 26, 201016 yr "Chase" for a triple crown always ends in the wrong way. A.k.a. they'll split different stats. But that's fine because Danny Uggla will be walking away with the HR title.
August 30, 201016 yr Author Might need to add Carlos Gonzalez to this list.. Pujols: .320 (3rd), 35 HR (1st), 95 RBI (1st) Votto: .325 (2nd), 32 HR (2nd), 93 RBI (2nd) Gonzalez: .326 (1st), 29 HR (4th), 90 RBI (3rd)

August 30, 201016 yr The fact there's so much competition makes this that much more unlikely, but it should be fun to watch.
August 30, 201016 yr Author Pujols brutal offense around him might be his downfall. I am not betting against him though.. i still think he does it. Agree that Gonzalez is not the same hitter away from Coors but by my count, Colorado has 18 home games left this year so you never know.
August 30, 201016 yr I was looking at the homerun park factors (over the past three years) and one thing that surprised me is that the Busch Stadium HR park factor is 0.81 (4th toughest in MLB) making Pujols' homerun numbers even more amazing. Sun Life is 10th toughest at 0.92.
September 3, 201016 yr Author Heading in to this weekends games: Batting average: 1. Gonzalez .332 2. Votto .325 5. Pujols .313 Homeruns 1. Pujols 35 3. Votto 32 5. Gonzalez 31 RBI 1. Votto 97 2. Pujols 95 3. Gonzalez 93 This really poor week by the cards sure has cost them and pujols... gonzalez in the meantime has really widened the gap in batting average and is crawling back in the other two categories. Looks like I am probably wrong on Pujols.. as it is looking like, as someone said, the competition will be the downfall of a triple crown hopeful. Gonzalez is in San Diego this weekend, so that can't help his case... while Cinci and the Cards square off in St. Louis.
September 3, 201016 yr Author i wont put anything past pujols though.. if there is anyone that can dominate a week and get right back in to it, its him.
September 4, 201016 yr The baseball gods won't allow someone who plays half of his games at Coors to win the Triple Crown.
September 8, 201016 yr Author Gonzalez leading in BA and RBI... 3 back in HR. Raise your hand if you called that one at the beginning of the year
