Rodriguez said he will probably move Maybin to the top of the order towards the end of the week. knowing this, I believe the new lineup is going to look like this:

Maybin

Morrison

Ramirez

Uggla

Sanchez

Stanton

Helms/Murphy

Hayes

Pitcher

I really like Gaby hitting third....I would rather have:

Hanley

Maybin

Gaby

Uggla

LoMo

Stanton

Helms

Hayes

P

I think

Maybin CF

LoMo LF

Hanley SS

Uggla 2B

Stanton RF

Sanchez 1B

Tracy 3B/Helms vs Lefties

Hayes / Davis C

Pitcher P

Stanton / Sanchez right now could be interchangeable with the way Gaby's been hitting. Logan's been doing well batting second, so why change that?

Just an idea.

I wholly support Hanley batting in the leadoff spot. If there is a hole in the order that is more appropriate for Maybin, I would say it is the 7 spot. The whole idea of batting Hanley first is that he sets the table for the sluggers.

But Hanley IS one of the sluggers.

He also is one of the leader on the team in OBP. By having Hanley leadoff, the Marlins have a better chance of driving him in with their slugging leaders batting behind him.

Albert Pujols leads the cards in OBP as well.

And Hanley's still on for the sluggers. It's not like he's hitting 7th, he's hitting 3rd in front of Danny and Stanton. It was LoMo, who has a ridiculously high OBP and not much slugging, who was hitting behind him.

Now that extra OBP from LoMo will be infront of slugger Ramirez.

As does Cabrera for Detroit, Votto for Cinci, and Mauer for Minnesota.

Those guys won't be leading off.

They also don't possesS Hanley's speed.

Having issues with your "s" key, smart ass?

I feel like we've had this debate about Hanley hitting lead-off a thousand times.

The optimum line-up for any team would follow this model:

1- high OBP, low SLG

2- high OBP, low SLG

3- high OBP, high SLG

4- high OBP, high SLG

5- lower OBP, high SLG

6- lower OBP, high SLG

7- bad hitter

8- bad hitter

9- Pitcher

There are variations to this, but essentially the best players in terms of both OBP and SLG should be the #3 and #4 hitters.

Actually I am. ometime when I am being a martas, it doesn't work too well. Thank for pointing it. I will work on getting this hit working right. :thumbup

Sanchez has been hitting that badly? I thought he was again a bright spot in last night's game and leading/close to leading in all the rookie divisions?? Why put Gaby so low?

I meant it in a positive way -_-

5 and 6 slots are usually for RBI guys as well, no?

Understatement of Helms

Sluggers almost always have good OBP, the more power the more you'll be pitched around. There's exceptions like Hamilton, sluggers who put the ball in play a lot. But you can't just put Hanley in the one because he has good OBP.

If Stanton starts hitting again I'd love to have Hanley bat in front of Stanton, Hanley seeing good pitches to hit's scary.

Hamilton has a .406 OBP.

Called it. i think this lineup is going to do well the rest of the season. assuming maybin can get to his usual September form, and Ramirez continues to hit.

I ment that he's not a guy who walks a crap load for how high his Slugging PCT is, because he puts the ball in play a lot, his ridiculous average salvages his OBP. Hamilton was probably a bad example though Rab
