So where we stand now:

C - Buck

1B - Sanchez

2B - Infante

SS - Hanley

3B - Coghlan

LF - Morrison

CF -

RF - Stanton

SP - Johnson, Nolasco, Sanchez, Volstad, Sanabia

RP - Hensley, Mujica, Webb, Dunn, Richardson, Sanches

Where do we go? Does Dominguez play 3B or does Bonifacio play CF? Do we go acquire a CF? If so, who?

Is Sanabia our 5th SP? Are we done with the bullpen?

I hate today too.. but I'm still curious what will happen next.

I think as of now, our starting lineup is:

3B/CF - Coghlan

2B - Infante

SS - Hanley

RF - Stanton

LF - Morrison

1B - Sanchez

C - Buck

CF/3B - Bonifacio/Dominguez

Who's Jackson? Reggie?

What is sad is that Stanton may be the only player we have that hits over 25 dingers next year. I know Hanley can but not unrealistic to say he won't.

Stanton

Hanley

Sanchez

Buck

All of them have the potential to hit 25 or more.

Chances are the bottom 2 will stay around 20, but I'm sure Stanton's 40 will offset that :)

Because hitting a lot of homeruns is the only way to win baseball games? I think the Giants would disagree. They just won the World Series with 1 player hitting more then 25 HRs. Also, the 2003 Marlins had only 2 players hit more then 25 HRs.

Correct it isn't the only way to win baseball games. However I feel much more confident with a few big boppers in the lineup who can change a game with 1 swing.

True but then sometimes that creates a team that over relies on the homerun too much and we've seen the Marlins be "that team" way too often.

And seriously... does anyone know the guy named Jackson that the original poster mentioned in our bullpen?

You know how many players in the NL in 2010 hit more than 25 homers last year?

19. That's basically one per team. We're right at average. As the thread title says, deep breath. :p

You know... I am just looking at names vs. possible chemistry and it's hard for me to be so disappointed in the moves made. For the money we supposedly offered Uggs and he declined, didn't that pretty much say he didn't want to be a Marlin?

As Marlins fans, we should just be used to shaking things up due to the fact that we don't have the bankroll most teams have and still competing and making things happen. We won a WS title with a load of young talent and unknowns. The Giants won it last year with the majority of misfits and unwanted players. Why can't we? I am not trying to be Mr. Optimistic, because of I of course will criticize a player if he doesn't pan out, but I almost get excited to see what a new mix can do.

I for one will be interested to see how the new squad will mesh and perform. If anyone has learned anything from watching baseball, is that bigger/more popular names aren't always gonna win a title, but teams that mold together can.

Good luck to Uggs and other ex-Marlins... just not against us. :D
