Posted March 27, 201113 yr He's only faced lefties so far this spring and has a 12.46 ERA. Edwin put him in right now to face Cora, and on the first pitch he ripped a liner into the outfield. I do not overreact, and I'm not doing so right now. But come on! He hasn't had a single good outing and I think by now he should be pitching halfway decent.
March 27, 201113 yr Author oh yeah, I forgot about him lol. Anyone know his status? Like is he someone we expect up next season or is he a couple seasons away?
March 27, 201113 yr Any clue on if Choate is working on something new? Velocity down? Tipping pitches? Bueller?
March 27, 201113 yr It's not over-reacting to be worried about Choate at this point. Those who feel confident with him need to remember that this is a guy who was never really that good to begin with. He's a journeyman who had two solid years in Tampa, but that is all they were- solid.
March 27, 201113 yr Choate has always been good against LHB and absolutely dreadful against RHB. We should do well to keep this in mind as the season starts. The only thing that changed over the last two seasons was he was used as a LOOGY; prior to that, he had faced as many RHB in his career as LHB, to predictable results.
March 27, 201113 yr yeah i mean i guess well see but he has been horrible this spring. borderline pathetic.
March 27, 201113 yr What happens in Spring Training stays in Spring Training Until this last week, Jupiter, Fla. must have been a very ugly place :lol :lol

March 28, 201113 yr What happens in Spring Training stays in Spring Training  Except Uncle Wes' blunders, am I right? :whistle
March 28, 201113 yr Today was the third time I've seen him in person this spring, as I recall in the first two he faced quite a few righties, but today was strictly a lefty-lefty situation. Cora hit a decent pitch it found a hole, that will happen. I know everyone can throw statistical rhetoric around, but just ask yourself would you rather have Choate in the pen or Pinto/Tankersley? For now I'll take Choate.
