5/6 Post Game

When Morrison comes back, I'm going to guess Dobbs goes back to the bench. Hopefully that means Wes will only see the occasional PH against lefties.

But to put the main focus of disappointment for this game directly on Helms is silly

It was the offense tonight, but you can't say that every night unfortunately this team is weird it's one of those it's something different every night things...

I thought we had it but Infante grounded a ball (per normal)

Helms struckout (per normal)

and Cogs has ADHD and swung at the first pitch.

He's a -2 at 3B this year which isn't good by any means but its not abysmally horrible for a bench player who isn't really being asked to play defense.

A -2 in limited time is horrible. Play him some more, and watch the stat become the worst in the big leagues.

And actually, he has been asked to play defense in the late innings a couple of times this year, so that's wrong.

Yeah but his primary role is a lefty bench bat. It's not like we're putting him in to games late with a lead as a defensive replacement. Its just not his role and for good reason.

Like I said, I'm not saying he's been good this year at all but he's not the worst player in the league. Scott Cousins was worse than him. So was Donnie Murphy.

Realistically speaking we are lucky to be where we are. This record with Volstad AND Vasquez, probably the two worst pitchers in baseball is a HUGE feat.

Seriously?

Wow.

You think we are going to be able to score a minimum of 7+ runs every game these bums pitch, I don't. There are too many weak points that need to be addressed to keep this up all season.

Okay okay we get it.

He won't see the field when Morrison is healthy and then you will be able to sleep at night.

We did for Volstad last year.

Besides the point, that hardly makes him the worst pitcher in the league.

Good to see Helms swinging at pitches he needs an elevator to hit.

Starting to wonder if Hanley will ever get out of this slump. He did hit a ball kinda deep to right tonight. Also why does center have to be so deep? Stanton crushed that ball.

Actually, Scott Cousins has been awesome defensively. Hence the reason why he has a positive WAR this year according to fangraphs, despite not hitting.

And Murphy's an above average defender, as well. He was also hurt, hence the reason why he probably didn't hit at all. He had a .133 .BABIP. Certainly wasn't going to keep a .103/.186/.128 all year had he stayed healthy.

Ok, I was exaggerating about the worst pitchers in the league, still pissed about the loss and frustrated knowing that cheapo FO will probably do nothing to fix these areas. But I am worried that the offense is going to cool off a bit and the losses will begin to stack up.

Vazquez does have the worst WHIP, though.

Vazquez is actually the worst pitcher in baseball right now.

That cheapo FO who raised payroll $20 mil since 2009 and over $40 mil since 2006. That one.

Cousins is a 0 on defense. Not sure how he has a positive WAR exactly but whatever. And Murphy is a career -6 at his most frequently played position. Not sure how that makes him an above average defender. And even if he is, it doesn't make up for his porous .626 career OPS.

Bad game. Not to happy about Edwin's bullpen management.

I don't think he did anything wrong, really.

So we have hit our first bump in the road and since I have calmed down, I think you all should too.

We are 8 games over .500 but of course there is always something to b**** about.

Thank God were not 30-0, I wouldn't know what to do but twiddle my thumbs.

Its the least they can do IMO.

Yeah, a 2 game losing streak. Oh the horror.

I think it may be him trying to build a new reputation. And failing.

UZR has them both being above average this year. UZR loves Cousins early on.

Also, regardless of the early #'s, these two guys are a lot better than Helms defensively, without question.

Cousins arm is awesome, and Murphy was once a SS, so he clearly has the range to play either. His arm isn't bad at all, either.

If you give these guys starting jobs, Helms would end up being the worst of the three, easily.

Okay.. enough about Helms. We all know he sucks and he had a terrible AB tonight. While its easy to jump on him, Coglan, Stanton and Omar did not have good games. Hot/Cold Coghlan and Stanton is very frustrating.
