5/6 Post Game

I think its safe to say that we are not playing very well right now..... Our losses have been very Ugly lately and it's concerning.

I had to watch that on gameday on my phone and I really struggled holding in my rage.

I dont care how many we won that we should have lost. What happened tonight was horrid and is starting to feel a lot like past years.

We are missing LoMo, Hanley can't hit a softball, and Infante is also slumping. To make matters worst Coghlan looks to be starting to slump also.

Hopefully Hanley and Infante can break out of their funk and with out a doubt when LoMo gets back that will be a HUGE boon to the team.

Things are bound to get better, we just need to focus on our weakest links right now. AKA Volstad/Vasquez.

Coghlan

Boni

LoMo

Gaby

Stanton

Hanley

Dobbs

Buck

should be the lineup when LoMo gets back.. which hopefully is soon.

From what I heard on the radio the strike zone was sh*tty. This true?

Also, F wes helms. He is so useless. I wonder if any team would take him for a dollar....

Seriously, guys, just because it happened at the end of the game, its all you remember? Buck made a terrible baserunning mistake because he didn't listen to his coach and was too stupid to call a timeout to get the right call, Dunn wasn't good at all tonight, and Coghlan and Boni terribly misplayed a ball that led to a run.

Remember all of that?

I didn't think Dunn was that bad.

And we hate on Helms because he's horrible. The other guys are still valuable members for any big league team, at the moment.

There's no way in hell Hanley will ever be put that far down in the order. Fifth is the furthest he'll slide.

Stanton hasn't shown the ability to hit cleanup yet in his young career.. meanwhile, Gaby has been our best hitter this year.

Hanley should hit 1st.

I could get on board with that.. Edwin needs to get creative to get him out of his slump

Also, our bench sucks. There's pretty much no one on the bench you can be confident in pinch hitting. Cousins sucks. Helms sucks. Murphy sucks. Peterson sucks. Hayes sucks.

Good luck with that pile of trash.

Hell, this team would be in deep trouble without Bonifacio.

Hayes has hit well in limited time this year and he's probably our best catching arm. But whatever.

Yeah he's hit well in like three games. Wow. That's not gonna last and you know it.

Figuring in Hayes to our bench is dumb. He'll never get PH ABs and his only job is too back up Buck... and so far he has done a good job of doing that. So to say he "sucks" is pretty weak and immature

He IS part of the bench. Yes, he is one of the last pinch hit options, but he's still an option.

and his role is to back up Buck.. which he has done a good job of this year

It's silly to dwell on Helms' AB for the outcome of the game.

He is pretty useless right now though. With the number of injuries right now, Bonifacio and Dobbs are getting a lot of starts. That means that Helms is going to get more ABs in these types of situations. Helms used to be a decent pinch hitter, but with most players of his age, a brick wall emerges at some point. That seemed to come last year, but for some reason it did not prevent the Marlins from throwing a million dollars at him.

He is also getting nothing good to hit and is not showing good plate discipline and swinging at everything. Put him before Gaby so he can see better pitches to hit. With Coghlan, Boni, and LoMo in the 1,2,3 spot there is a good chance even if Mike strikes out Gaby will have an AB.

Used to be the best leadoff hitter in baseball.

It's not as if he's hitting for power, so the whole "run producer" thing is just crap, right now.

Let him leadoff the game, and hopefully he'll be more consistent in shortening his swing with a different role, or something. There are certain times when it looks like he's trying to be the hero this year; the 9th inning tonight being a perfect example.

Even though Hanley is battling Mendoza, he certainly would be plenty of "protection" for Mike

It's all moot because Edwin will never move him that far down in the lineup

Also, as I predicted on the gamethread, it seems like Clay Hensley's going on the DL. That was obvious.

Yea, he definitely isn't "right"

Welcome back Hopper (couldnt resist)

I've been pretty opposed to Hanley hitting lead-off every time it's come up since the Cabrera trade, but I think under the present circumstances it's the wise move.

I'm also glad that they finally moved Infante down in the lineup.

I don't see pitchers being careful when facing Hanley this year as opposed to previous years. Pitchers are starting to throw whatever they want at him and he is just not putting good swings on the ball. They will keep testing him until he makes them pay repeatedly. He has seen a lot of good pitches hitting in front of Gaby and has come up short continuously. Mike on the other hand keeps getting a steady diet of balls away that he for some reason keeps trying hit.

The fact that he leads the team in walks while still batting under .200 would probably disagree with that

I wonder if we see Ceda instead of Badenhop.

Didn't realize he was pitching so well in the minors this year

14 IP, 16 K, 5 BB, 1 ER

I'd like to reiterate ericks point that helms has no business taking MLB at bats
