Yankees alt uni?

Featured Replies

This subject gets under my skin, because it makes me facepalm every time I see a Yankee fan worship their uniform set. Yes it's classic but I think it's stupid to treat them as a sacred cow. They're just clothes so I think they could benefit from an alt uni to wear on occasions.

If it's irrelevant then why did you click on it?

Because it was the first thread on the MLB section of the board, and I actually thought the Yankees were getting alternate uni's.

As I said, I wish they were.

Seriously, Erick's correct.

You though, are wrong. I know you hate the Yankees because your a Rays fan (of course you think reinvention is a good thing, your history sucks), but they are THE YANKEES. They basically wear the same uniforms Ruth and Gehrig did.

And why the hell should the Yankees get an alt?

I agree with the Penguin there is already to many alternate uniforms. Last thing I want is teams having a thousand combinations like the Oregon ducks.

Teams have too many uniforms already and they change too frequently.

The only team that rivals the Rays in the "bad" history department is the Rockies. The Rays are probably worse due to the rebranding.

Just curious, how do the Rockies have a bad history? I know how the Rays stunk it up, but Colorado made it to the '95 playoffs and I don't recall them being bottom of the barrell perennial losers like, say, the Pirates before their late-2000s remergence.

I give you... the Houston Astros:

Here's my take on team history:

Having a history isn't really just about winning per se. However, being a dominant winning team, contributes somewhat.

Winning the wild card in 1995 isn't really iconic, or memorable. It just says that they didn't suck every year at the beginning of their expansion. It would be different if that season were memorable or they got farther into the playoffs.

So to me history isn't so much about winning: it's more about individual moments that people actually remember or care about. For example, I think the Marlins have a history largely because of the 1997 World Series. This is not necessarily because they won, but because a lot of things happened there and came out of that series that were memorable. The same goes for 2003 postseason.

Still I don't think the Marlins have the history of teams that have been around longer.

So youre saying the Rockies and the Rays have a bad history because they haven't done anything that memorable?

Despite the many unis, that's a cool pic... where'd you get that pic Rab?

EDIT: forget it, found it... google does wonders.... damn in 2000 the 'Stros has EIGHT jerseys??? Wow

The pic Rab posted doesn't even include the black uni's that the Astros had not so long ago before they went all red with the alt's.

More like they don't have a history because they haven't much done historic.

The 1995 Wild Card isn't really anything important or memorable.

Both have made it to the series, which could have potentially been historic except that they both got completely annihilated by their opponents. Those series were completely forgettable.

I find it strange how American sports teams rarely make drastic changes to their uniforms. Over here soccer teams change 3 strips (home/away/alternate) either every year or every 2 years to milk fans for more revenue.

6 sh*tty uniforms

bored so i'll answer....the yanks have been wearing the exact same unis since the ron bloomberg DH game....1973.....the home uni is perfect......the road uni has outlived itself......the sleeve piping is too 70s...no one uses it anymore, well maybe the chisox.....drop the sleeve piping and the white trim on the numbers and NEW YORK so the unis look more like the 50s (IMO their best unis).....change the font of the number to match the mets (also like the 50s).....told u I was bored.....

and also, every team drop the f in black.....except the white sox......black is now whack
