Jalenamoskovy
What is the future of CC? It seems as if the organization is dismissing CC from the team for the forseeable future. Did CC refuse to go down (and could he do that?) and did that piss off the front office, and they decided to put him on ice with an "injury"? Is CC to be trade bait by the end of the month? Could they be that angry with him? Its just all curious. The timing and then the moves all at CF. Just speculating :thumbup
Erick
Coghlan's better than both of these guys. Combined. This is just a short-term solution - especially Cameron.
SilverBullet
They havent soured on CC, with this season basically already tanked... it seems like theyre just being patient with his injury as they are with JJ. There's no need to rush either one cause its not like we need them for our nonexistent playoff push. So theyre letting CC's injury play out then will be extra patient in getting his hitting back up to 2009 levels.
HawkFan
The way I understood it, the Marlins optioned him down to New Orleans to work on his hitting in a lower pressure environment and he only told them about the injury after that. I believe he did that so we would be paid his MLB salary while on the MLB Disabled List as opposed to playing or going on the Disabled List in the minors (in which case he would be making his Minor League salary). Personally, I take the Cameron trade as more of an indictment in the lack of veteran leadership on the team (and Trader Jack's experience w/ Cameron in Cincy) as opposed to an indication in the eam's unhappiness w/ CC. I still think the FO likes CC a lot, as he fits their mold: young, cheap, flexible and talented. He's done everything they asked of him (learn LF his rookie season after being primarily an IF his whole career, takeover as CF in spacious Sun Life stadium), and he's still only 26 compared to 38. I do not think, however, CC deals well with pressure and is prone to mental funks. I'd like to see him still get some games at New Orleans under his belt once he's 100% and kept 6 or 7 in the order back w/ the big club. bobbob1313
Coghlan's certainly better than his numbers this season.
BosnianBaller_
cameron is pretty much done and will probably retire by the end of the season. and petersen is a AAAA player at best. coghlan is the best option we have in centerfield once he's healed from his injury
Anonymous
Coghlan's certainly better than his numbers this season. Of course. That's because his numbers are horrible right now. However, he's still not a very good hitter
Rabbethan
He's still a career .283/.350/.414 guy, I'm not ready to say "he's not a very good hitter".

However, he's still not a very good hitter He had a .263 BABIP this year after .360 and .335 the previous two. He lowered his K rate and increased his ISO. Yeah, his BB rate went down, but he should have been better than he was this year, and if not for being sent down/injury, he likely would have been. I think people expected too much from him following his rookie season. He's probably going to settle around a .740 OPS bat, which is fine. However, he was very lucky his rookie season. It isn't fine with his defense and having him as your lead off hitter. Also, I'm pretty sure a .740 OPS bat is a below average hitter. Correct me if I'm wrong on that, please.

I don't think looking at his career line is a good tool to use to judge him. He was very lucky his rookie year and is very unlucky this year. I believe he most likely ends up a sub .700 OPS hitter, which is not very good.
alejandrasnow
I've been traveling for over a week now so I haven't been able to follow the Fish. I'm a little out of the loop. They're platooning Cameron and Petersen right?
Eddie Altamonte
If Cameron keeps on hitting like tonite he won't be platooning very long...can anyone spell DFA?
enterthemadness
CC only won rookie of the year in 2009 cause of his insane hitting in Aug and Sept. I'll like to see more of Petersen...give him a chance. I imagine he'll hut .260 ish with doubles. Probably be a good 4th OF on a team. Can play the OF. Average OPS in the NL this year is .704. And yeah, he's probably not a good option for the leadoff spot. That doesn't mean he's inherently lacking in value. So no, not really. 3 Ks in 3 official at bats doesn't project to a long career as a Marlin...Well i guess he got a BB and scored a run, regardless it seems Cameron's career is running on fumes
Admin
Right now I'm most confused as to why Wise is still on the team. He doesn't really have anything to offer (Cameron is probably just as good defensively) and has never hit well in his entire career.
fanofthefish
If Petersen can show he can hit he could be long term solution to CF, Infante is gone after this season opening 2b up for Cogs, where he will have less stress on his shoulder/arm (whatever is hurt). Cameron is here until the end of the season. If the Marlins want a platoon they need to add Boni to the equation.

Eddie Altamonte
If you add the 25 Ks in 94 ABs with a .149 BA with Red Sox, you can get a pretty good idea that Cameron might be at the end of the road
bobbob1313
Maybe. These three ABs shouldn't have changed your opinion.
Erick
He's a better fit than Dewayne Wise at this point, regardless. He's not getting DFA'd anytime soon.
