Although I think hard-luck and injuries had a lot to do with it, this season is basically out of reach. I thought that if we could be .500 or better at the end of the Mets series we get back in it, but that is no longer possible.

The Marlins have (IMO) a few decent trade pieces:

Vazquez: He's gotten his act together and can likely hold down the bottom of a contender's rotation. She should be able to bring 1 decent prospect with some 'what the hell, give em a try' additions

Nunez: There are several contenders that need bullpen help, and he should bring a decent prospect in return, hopefully either a CF or young pitcher

Infante: A excellent bench player that can help out at lots of positions and hit OK

Dobbs: A valuable LH bench bat

Vazquez has a no-trade clause, I think?

Correct. But I'm not sure if he can waive it or not. I'm sure he would if he could get the opportunity to play on a contender and possibly get back into the post season. Problem is, he would be a pretty expensive SP to add and might not be considered an upgrade by most other contenders.

The other 3 pieces on the other hand are extremely valuable and should be moved.

Can they really get a good prospect for Nunez? From what I've read people like Buster Olney are saying its going to be hard to get a great return on right handed relievers because a lot are available on the trade block.

I would like to us to keep Dobbs for atleast one more year. He has been one of our more consistent guys especially off the bench. I would hope to keep atleat one bat off thr bench we can count on. The question is if he can keep up the production. I just can't think of anyone at the moment that would make up his production. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to get Bonifacio to start in the infield depending on who gets traded.

we better keep Dobbs!

Gaby/Boni/Hanley/Dobbs infield sounds good, assuming no infielders are brought in during the offseason.

as nice as Dobbs is off the bench..if you get a halfway decent offer you have to trade him pronto. Dobbs is not going to be the missing link to our success next season. And if the fish want him that badly they can resign him as a UFA in the offseason as i'm guessing he's on a one year deal. It would make no sense to hang onto dobbs at all sir. And to the person who said Vazquez wants to sucker someone into giving him a three year deal I find that highly unlikely as he turned down more money and a longer deal from the Cubs in order to sign with the fish if I remember correctly. He was quoted as saying he wants to take it year by year from here on out in his career.

Dobbs is not a viable 3B. I like him as a bench player, but he is a platoon player at best and probably not high enough of an OPS guy on the corners for that.

Dobbs at 3B sounds like a terrible idea.

I wish I could get you guys a bunch of cheese for all this whine...

If Im vasquez I stay on the marlins. Low pressure pitching for one year in a pitchers park. I would just work on my stats so I could sucker some team in the offseason to give me a 3yr deal for too much money.

The Braves ? How great would it be if they took him back. I wish we could fool those jerks.

Cardinals need bullpen help and they have 2 interesting minor league 3B.

If the Marlins had Dobbs and Infante on the bench next year, that would be a pretty good bench. But if you can get something for them, I wouldn't mind.

I don't know where you're from, but where I'm from "In the bag" means "No problem" or "consider it done". Like if Nunez had a 10 run lead when he came out to pitch in the 9th, winning the game would be (almost

The season is over. In the bag often means "as good as done" in a positive way, it also just means "done" without bias.

I don't know about you guys but I still hold hope...we are just 9 games out and Atlanta is not setting the world on fire...

Actually we're 8.5 games back... THERE'S STILL A CHANCE! I think Mckeon has one more miracle playoff run left in him!!!!

Only got 5 teams to leapfrog! Let's do this!

If we sweep the Braves I am prepared to believe that we have a snowball's chance in hell.

It's one game at a time. They've been playing good ball.

I said it before... it's slim chance that they do anything but if they keep playing they way they've played July they stand a slim chance.
