I don't know if any of you care, but I thought I'd share this story with you all, since it was just so terribly random that I'm still laughing about it 9 hours later:

I was in Atlanta for an accounting conference with PwC since a few days back, and I heard earlier this morning that the Marlins were in the hotel my conference was being held at, but I really thought nothing of it because I'm not one to hound baseball players for an autograph. While I was leaving to Miami, I ended up seeing Hanley walking around the lobby in some lime green polo alongside Omar Infante. I wasn't really interested in bothering either of them, but one of the senior associates in my group ends up asking him for an autograph for me and I end up with an authentic autographed Hanley Ramirez PwC shirt. The experience was, for the most part, the same as most people on here who've met him: Ignoring us and seeming very distant and apathetic about everyone around him, but as soon as I told him we were from Miami in Spanish, he smiled and seemed a bit more comfortable signing his name on my back.

The end.

nice man.. how's omar infante? He looks like a humble guy

Omar was on the phone the whole time. We didn't go up to him.

On another note: I saw a little kid in a Marlins hat show up dragging his parents by the arms into the hotel chasing both Hanley and Omar. I really hope Hanley treated the kid well, because he seemed really excited.

You should have addressed him as Mr Marlin.

That would be Senor Aguja

When Hanley Ramirez is around, nobody cares about Omar Infante.

Okay. I had to go to a translation site for thise one. Dosen't that translate to "Mr. Needles"???

I once asked a bilingual person what the Spanish word for marlin was. He said it was marlin. Was I misinformed?

In any case......I'm sticking with Senor Marlin. But only if he works on fulfilling his potential.

I'll stick with Star Fish :p

I believe the Spanish word for "Marlin" is "Marleen."

Yeah, that's what I usually hear at the games. "Lets go Mahleen!!!"

Marlin is marlín, but it is also aguja. Like the aguja azul (blue marlin).

If I was there and I saw hanley and Omar together, I would have ignored hanley, I would have said to Omar in front of hanley, ''you put alot of effort in your game'' ''The fans love you for that'' And would have asked for his autograph and not even looked at hanley.

That'll show him!

are you being sarcasic or not. Honest, hanley has alot of pride, that would be on his mind for a little while, even though he wouldnt show it. He has a weak mind.

Since seem to be his psychiatrist, I hope he doesn't pay you well, because you're not very good at your job.

Let me add:

What did you just say? lol

Hanley is an arrogant prick end of story and enough of the well he's our star, your right he's our star prick.

He needs "how to act like an adult" counseling.

Also stop teetering with .250 and get to .340... seriously just sucks. :lol :p

So I should change my signature then? But if I make a signature based on what you call him, I think I'd get banned ;)

Having pride and confidence is one thing, and that's a good thing, but being arrogant and acting like you're better than everyone else, that's something else. I hate people like that and in a personal situation, would ignore them. I don't really care one way or the other how Hanley acts though; I care about what he does in the game. Period. Time has a funny way of changing people. Hanley won't be playing baseball forever. In the end, what matters is what he does for us in the game. That's all.

I've met Emilio Bonifacio a few times and he's pretty much awesome and really nice towards fans (completely unrelated to topic at hand).

this thread went from a cool little story to complete hell

Unfortunately for him most of his life will be had out of baseball... so... that may be true for us as fans but not for him as a human being, you think anyone's going to care that he's a HOF'er (If he even makes the HOF) when he has a day job and doesn't give max effort he will just get fired. "BUT I'M Hanley Ramirez!"

Also,

I wasn't referring to you, I was referring to the people who act like Hanley is what makes the Marlins, he's not.

Also youre right Hanley won't be playing baseball forever so after that I will just forget he existed beyond that of a Marlins uniform, because thats what everyone else will do as well if his attitude doesn't change.

He's a HOF'er! ... yea but he's a jerk beyond that he was only a good baseball player, he never did anything after that.

Hope thats not what is said but I mean... he's on that path.

Clark Spencer just tweeted:

"Organist at Turner Field just played "Do The Hustle" when Hanley Ramirez stepped to plate. #Marlins"

LOL
