Cola Wars: Coca Cola v. Pepsi

Featured Replies

Somebody once told me that the company that makes RC Cola also makes Publix soda. Could one of you cola connoisseurs verify that? Store brand products are actually name brand products with the store brand labels, so its at least half true. If it is true then you can just buy Publix cola instead of RC Cola and save 50%.

Has anybody ever heard of red creme soda? Pepsi is supposed to be coming out with one in a couple weeks. I had no idea it even existed until a customer asked me about it a few days ago. I then asked a Pepsi vendor about it a few minutes later, and shockingly they were in the know.

I just did some Googling. I had no idea Big Red was red creme soda. I thought it was fruit punch soda or something. Now I really fell bad for that customer. Mr. Pibb isn't red cream soda is it?

First off, funny :lol

Second, I did some googling as well. Barq's (the Root Beer) has a Red Creme Soda. It's honestly not your fault that some jackass customer asked for the most wildly random soft drink, really. edit: Well I take that back, unless this is a restaurant we're talking about. Although no, Mr. Pibb is not red creme soda :lol It's actually just Pibb Xtra now, which is basically Coke's version of Dr. Pepper.

Dr. Pepper is owned by Dr. Pepper-Snapple Group or whatever, which owns both Dr. Pepper and 7UP. As you'd imagine, Coke and Pepsi compete with them as well. But there's a fun twist with DPSG, where they're pretty much only a US Company. The rest of the international naming rights go to both... you guessed it... Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Coca-Cola owns Dr. Pepper and thus why Pibb Xtra is virtually unmarketed and nonexistent outside of the United States. Pepsi owns 7UP, and thus why Sierra Mist is actually nonexistent outside of the United States.

Also, Big Red is indeed creme soda. That's why it foams rather than fizzes.

Wear a kilt, carry a bagpipe, and have the wife bag you some haggis for casual Friday at the office.

Pretty accurate. Dont forget the emergency 6 pack of Tennants that a Scotsman carries with him at all times!

That explains why in some markets Dr. Pepper is put on the shelves by Coke while Pepsi stocks it here. And yeah, I did come across Barqs red cream soda n my Googling. I forgot to mention it before.

I work at Publix stocking the soda and water aisle. I don't blame myself for anythng. I just feel bad that I wasn't able to relay what the Pepsi guy told me.

You mean they're drunk? :p

Wait to see the nick I'm in tomorrow night. First night out with my new work colleagues, and all week they have been dropping hints as to our initiation procedures. Let's just say it will be rather messy.....
