I will never understand why people get so upset when other people say "Happy Holidays."

This. I always say Happy Holidays because I hate the word "Merry"

It's an attack on our country!

Me either.

However, I completely understand when people get upset over things in similar nature.

Last year my aunt was complaining to me about how her kids have to go to school now and for Thanksgiving it's not called Thanksgiving in their school. It's called 'Fall Break', and the teachers are not allowed to refer to it otherwise.

The same applies to Christmas break, which is 'Winter Break', and they are also not allowed to refer to it as anything else. They have a 'Holiday party' where no symbols representing any of the actual holidays are allowed.

While most complaints are a bit silly, that is just f***ing stupid.

I can't wait until religion dies in developed countries.

As soon as everybody comes to their senses and realizes that gods are ancient aliens and not non-corporal all-powerful beings that live in the sky, maybe it will.

Vat is vis ze barrage on Herr heat84? He is no Nazi.

What does "Vat is vis ze barrage on Herr" mean and why can't Google translate it? It is German isn't it?

Edit: I let Google detect the language and it translated it from Dutch to: Vessel's fish they jump on Herr. WTF?

Vat is = What is

vis ze = with the

barrage on = barrage on

Herr heat84 = Mr. heat84

It's the way you write in German (accent).

Do a lot of Jews actually get offended when you say Merry Christmas to them?

I did when I was a kid. But I was the only Jew in my class, my family never celebrated Christmas at all and so I just felt suffocated by Christmas. You get used to it and care less as you get older. Still, "I'm Jewish" pops out sometimes when I am told "Merry Christmas," but usually it's "Thanks! You too!" and then I'll roll my eyes as I walk away.

Because if the intent is to wish someone a Merry Christmas then Merry Christmas should be used. I will never understand why this is so hard to understand.

Or as soon as people start thinking for themselves. Which will be never.

I never understood the Christian anxiety in my fellow Jews until I was older and recognized that most are not centuries removed from Europe. In Europe, Christianity was a hammer used to beat Jews well into the 20th Century (and still is to some extent) whereas among US protestants, the feelings run from "who cares" to favorable most of the time.

Are you too young to know what song I was quoting?

Excuse me?

If I'm 'too young' to know Imagine by John Lennon, then so are you.

However, if you understood my post you'd realize that I made an exact reference to a different lyric in the song. Come on now.

Just checking! You passed! One of my all-time faves.

I really want religion to go away.

So you don't believe in religion or aliens. What do you believe in? That both of those are ancient humans' imaginations gone wild? I can't think of anything else that could be in between the two. And I'll be mature and not laugh at what ever the answer is.

There's currently a poll on CNN asking whether or not Tim Tebow/The Bronco's success can be attributed to God.

Yes: 25%

No: 75%

CNN is trolling. Hardcore.

I really want religion to go away.

Go read Carl Sagan's The Demon-Haunted World.
