December 8, 201114 yr Money isn't everything. Pujols already has that. I would also think he would have a better chance at winning here.. Maybe he doesn't ant to win. Actually, maybe he is a turd. If money wasn't everything, he'd be a Cardinal. Angels offered a no trade, we didn't.
December 8, 201114 yr There is absolutely no chance I would've given Pujols A-Rod money. If 10 years, $275 million would've been the offer Pujols accepted to us, I would've been absolutely furious. Also, Loria has gone crazy. I hope he goes crazy on Prince now..

December 8, 201114 yr If we can't lock up Stanton as a result of signing Prince to a long-term deal, then it's not worth it.

December 8, 201114 yr People need to remember too that California has one of the highest income taxes in the US, while FLorida has none. If the Marlins did indeed offer $275M, there is no way on earth he leaves that on the table.
December 8, 201114 yr That's straight BS and yet another way for the media to try to knock us back down to "where we belong". I would be absolutely LIVID if we gave someone $275M, I don't care how great they are. Also, wouldn't that $275M be more like $300M with there being no state income tax? I have no real understanding of how income taxes work so forgive me if that's a stupid question or completely wrong, we don't have an income tax here in The Bahamas.

Lol, no. $275m with no income tax is $275m. Nothing higher.

December 8, 201114 yr It wouldn't be more than $275M. There is no tax refund in Florida for multimillionaires, so the amount of money would not go about he signed for.

December 8, 201114 yr On a $254 Million contract, I think Pujols would pay about $12 million less in taxes in Florida compared to California.
December 8, 201114 yr multiple reports of this have been posted all morning by everyone But they've all been quoting the same person, Bob Nightengale. Clark Spencer said that he heard it but doesn't believe it. That said, I think what did it for the Angels were the no-trade clause (though I heard rumors that we might have budged on that) and the fact that he can be a productive player for longer because of the DH.
December 8, 201114 yr They probably went as high as $225M with no NTC as rumored. If Pujols was going to take a discount anywhere, i'd imagine it would be for St. Louis.
December 8, 201114 yr Nah, he has money. He wanted to make sure he did not get traded when he was 37-38 to Kansas City. Pretty sure his 10-5 rights would negate that possibility.. could be mistaken though. It was made obvious that he wanted a no trade clause involved with the Marlins and the fact that it wasn't offered is why he isn't in Miami, it was for the better. I don't understand the C.J. Wilson thing though.
