Yes I'm up with Bad News for those Vlad fans

Ramp I told you the Angels appear to be the team to beat, well....According to prosportsdaily.com the Angels today have offered Vlad 4 yrs Guaranteed 62.75 Mil.

Also it good to see Mike Berardino get the jump on everybody with the Lowell/Castillo thing. DeJean is name that was mention alot during the trading deadline, could be a name to remember :whistle ...also Redman is the man that WILL be gone with or without Pudge resigning. Like I say the hot rumor that was going around at the GM meetings was Redman being package with Encarnacion to try and get more. As far as Looper I've heard both he's staying and he's going...you'll know "IF" his gone if Urbina starts to get calls from the fish.

im happy as long as we get ANYTHING in return for Enc/Loop/Redman i have alot of faith in the FO to make some positive moves

ed were u been? Loop is definatly gone. he made 800 thou bonuz and will make like 4 mill in arbitrtion. why would we keep him for that if we can get urbina for the same???

hmmm thanks for teh info its really good :) , but its not insider info, just stuff normal ppl cant get cuz its on sites we dont go to..

Why is it good to see Berardino get a jump? For one thing, it remains to be seen if he knows what he's talking about since he's pretty much shut out of the Marlins camp. His MLB "sources" have already proven to be unreliable.

He did nothing but trash the Marlins almost all of last season. Except for LeBatard he's absolutely the most negative, and damaging reporter covering the Marlins. He appears to a have a personal vendetta or something.

He thinks Oakland is the only organization who has any idea how to run an organization ever since he read "Moneyball". It became his bible.

He's a jerk, and I hope fans don't forget what a jerk he really is.

Enc to Milwaukee for LoDuca if we don't sign Pudge as a backup for Choi/Conine at first and Castro/Redmond behind the plate?

What really caught my eye was the Herald's Clark Spenser's obvious rewrite of Berardino's column for today's Miami Herald.

Yes Berardino carries a grudge towards the Marlins (and from this person's perspective its totally justifiable) you can't put him in the same sentence as LeBetard, Spenser and Miller.

For sheer quantity of Marlins-hating reporting no one holds a candle to Clark Spenser. Day in, day out, for three years Spenser has poisoned this market against the Fish, and Miller, well Jeff Miller is simply the most rabid Marlins-hater alive. Who else would comment that a sign that read "Loria=MVP" held up by a cheering fan the night we won the wildcard and conclude that MVP stood for "Most Vile Parasite" even as Loria saved baseball in South Florida.

Yes Mike B. has his issues, yes he's been wrong frequently, much too often for my taste, but you can't put him the same league as the Marlin-hating troika at the Herald.

Not even close.

Not even close. AGREE with everything you said Marlins 2003, Another guy that doesn't get talk about in a positive way is Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post. He's very knowledgeable and informative about baseball and the Marlins.

Conine Left, Pierre Center, Cabs Right. End of story and done.

I'm a happy man with those three patroling the outfield . . .

Good....get Vlad out of the NL and our division. But holy cow? 21+ million per?

well, it's a 4 year deal

so 62.75 mil / 4 = roughly 15.7 per year if my math is correct

Well that leaves jose guillen.

Well I dont think that leaves much room for Guillien if we sign Lowell back, willis#1.

LF- Conine CF-Pierre RF- Cabs

he deserves (and will get) MORE than 4 yrs @ 62.75 mil.

no way in hell we could afford that.

It could happen still. I dont know if California has income tax, but since we dont we could offer him about $2M less - say 4 years @ $60M. That is $15M per (perhaps, a little less than Anaheim, but we just won the World Series and have an organization that Vlad knows...). We could then backload that contract with the stadium deal in mind:

2004 10M

2005 12M

2006 16M

2007 22M

It seems to be a little richer than expected by those of us here who think we could sign Vlad. It doesnt seem likely at that price - I cant imagine us spending $22M for a player, even Vlad, and even with a new stadium. Hello Jose Guillen...

well if Vlad aint coming to the Fish, I hope he stays out of our division and our league

So Vlad isn't coming to the Fish huh?

Wow, i'm shocked, especially after the crap I received from some folks around here for saying there was no way the Fish could afford Vlad. I'm sorry if I was crushing the optimism around here, but nobody could have actually thought the marlins were going to sign Vlad.

the dream lives on until further notice

Ok, but that's all it's ever been, a dream, not a realistic hope.

Come on Ramp, you're as smart a baseball person as I've ever talked to, you couldn't have actually thought the marlins were going to be able to afford Vlad, could you?
