SilverBullet
According to the Marlins' Transactions page, they signed catcher Koyie Hill like four days ago. Not sure how we missed this, I guess he's our backup catcher?
Erick
I think he was signed for minor league depth.
mrchainsaw
I don't get why we wouldn't have him backup Brantly instead of Skipworth.
SilverBullet
To me, its irrelevant either way. Mathis won't be out that long, our backup will only get a handful of starts before Mathis returns. Hill or Skipworth, who cares.
fanofthefish
I saw this on Baseball America, for now I just see it as adding depth, most of the prospects are far from being ready, so this a just in case scenario

Hill or Skipworth, who cares. I care a little, considering whatever garbage they sign or promote is probably going to be better than Evan Mathis, who is awful at just about everything. Michael
Who the hell is Evan Mathis? Jeff Mathis actually happens to be a good defender.

Oh I agree with u 100% but the FO is dead set on having Mathis be the backup. So in that sense the replacement doesn't matter because when Mathis is healthy he absolutely will be on this team. Thus, the replacement for a month and a half is irrelevant no matter how much better than Mathis he may be.

Jokersgoon
Rod barajas is out there. Why not?
mrchainsaw
If he didn't get invited to ML ST, how did he get in yesterday's game against Detroit?
Michael
If he didn't get invited to ML ST, how did he get in yesterday's game against Detroit? In the home games of Spring, they can invite Minor League players to play in the games. In the remaining home spring games, if they want Yelich to hit and Fernandez to pitch, they can do that. At least I do believe.
Erick
Redmond said that Hill might be the backup C to start the year.
Piazza31
Yup, he didn't want to start the year with two young backstops.
Admin
I think we acquire a backup C before Monday.
