Yelich can indeed play first base, but it'll take some time getting him back into the groove of it since he hasn't played there since he was drafted ... as a first baseman. I'm hoping Morrison can put up a strong second half and start off strong next year by the time all these guys are ready so we could possibly get a decent return for him. He'll need to be more patient with RISP, though ...

July 21, 201313 yr Yelich was a 1B that was coverted to OF because of his speed/athleticism. His arm is still underdeveloped though, which is often the case with guys that make that switch. JT Realmuto was drafted a SS and converted to C...I'm not entirely sure why on that one...arm?

July 21, 201313 yr Ozuna might just be in right eventually. The fact that we have multiple prospects on the verge of being called up means some moves are bound to happen....whether that's trading Stanton or seeing a move change somewhere. Personally, I'd keep stanton and move him to first. Morrison can be a lefty bat if they keep him. Means our yoing OF is up. ..Stanton stays healthy...and Morrison doesn't have to be seen as much. Juan Rodriguez said on twitter yesterday he won't be surprised if/when Stanton is move to LF for Ozuna to RF and Yelich likely in CF. That seems like a dumb thing to do.

I understand the speed that he has would be better utilized out there, but you were telling me the same when I mentioned Stanton moving to first. I don't understand how someone's value decreases just because they move to first.
July 21, 201313 yr I'm not a fan of moving Stanton to left either. Not sure exactly what Erick's issue would be but I feel that doesn't play to the strengths/weaknesses of those 3. Yelich is great defensively and has speed to play CF but doesn't have the arm, especially if you're playing at Marlins park. Ozuna has speed and an arm. Stanton is the weakest defender but also has a strong arm. I don't know the actual numbers, but I'd also like to think more balls are hit to center and left than they are to right...so having stronger defenders there might be in the teams best interests. My only thought for moving Stanton to first or third would be health. First would be a waste if his arm, but also less stressful defensively

At least, power wise. In LF, he will be a better fit there.

Morrison is really good. There's soooooooo many ways that this Stanton/Yelich/Marisnick/Ozuna/Morrison situation could go. I'm not surprised to see people have so many different views on it. Even if we continued to talk about it and agreed on the same conclusion... one injury could then change everything.
July 21, 201313 yr I don't think I've seen much from Morrison to say he's "really good". He's frequently injured, not a particularly terrific fielder, and hasn't been that great a hitter outside his rookie season. He started this year hot but has been ice cold this month (as has virtually everyone). This would be the season to prove his rookie year wasn't a fluke...so I'll wait it out...but I have my reservations.
July 21, 201313 yr I don't think I've sung the praises of marisnick. He and yelich are better defensively as of now. I have no idea how they will hit in the majors, morrison hasn't lived up to his minors numbers, some guys do some don't. Chris Hatcher is a stud at AAA, can't do anything at MLB level.

I don't understand how someone's value decreases just because they move to first. I don't really like moving prospects with the athletic ability to play the OF to 1B. I'm also not sold on Yelich as some sort of elite bat. If you put him at 1B, I think he becomes just another guy. Obviously, if they all pan out, you're only allowed 3 OF's. In that case, the guy I would move to 1B would be Stanton. That's assuming he's even willing to do that/the FO hasn't traded him yet. Either way, Stanton is the best player on the team and moving him to 1B would probably lessen the chances of him getting injured which has been a problem with him.
