September 17, 201313 yr It hasn't been mentioned, but if we somehow manage to lose 4 more of the last 12 than does HOU and wind up with the same record as HOU, we still lose because apparently the tiebreaker would be the 2012 record -- and HOU only won 55 in '12. Even if we finish 0-12, HOU would have to win 5 of their 12, all against contenders. Each side of that equation is highly unlikely. Both? Forget it.
September 17, 201313 yr Well, picking Josh Beckett with the No 2 overall in 1999 didnt work out so badly for us. Imagine how TB felt picking a then-drug addled Josh Hamilton instead of Beckett. Hamilton never wound up panning out for the Rays.

Hamilton never wound up panning out for the Rays. He also had injuries early in his career. This is true. However, we did get more out of Beckett than Tampa did out of Hamilton. So, woo!
