canada-marlin24
Thoughts? Could be had for maybe 5-6 million. Good average guy and had 17 home runs and 70 RBI. Would be a nice offensive boost and complement with Mathis.
Guest Vince0926
He's a real jerk. Might get the guys riled up. Might be. Good move. He's a jerk like qualls. Not a jerk like tino.
Eddie Altamonte
He is worse than Tino from what I hear, a very disagreeable guy in almost everyway possible
Erick
A lot better than Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

Wild Card
A lot better than Jarrod Saltalamacchia. I mean, "a lot better" is a huge exaggeration considering Salty posted an OPS nearly .100 points higher as he hits the peak of his career and Pierzynski is nearly a decade older and obviously on the decline. Pierzynski is simply another band-aid on a broken arm. The organization needs a long-term solution, and with nobody in line to take the job internally, Salty for 3 or 4 years would make great sense while we can draft and develop a future option. FutureGM
A lot better than Jarrod Saltalamacchia. How? He's also around 10 years older.
Erick
He's better because he won't want a ridiculous long-term overpayment. Saltalamacchia sucks. With the exception of McCann, no one on the list of catchers is worth signing long-term.

With the exception of McCann, no one on the list of catchers is worth signing long-term. Well, I guarantee you there's at least one Major League GM out there willing to disagree with you. So there's that. And McCann is much more attractive to a team like Texas that can use him to fill three different voids, but Salty can play behind the plate more and is a few years younger. That may make him more valuable (long-term) considering it opens up his market to the entire league and not just AL teams. If any NL team gives McCann a 4/5 yr deal they're nutz. Salty, however, has earned at least a three year deal IMO and he's not limited to any particular league.

fanofthefish
I can see Pierzynski ending up with a team like the Red Sox, they'll be glad to get rid of Salty and they have a few catchers that need at least a year or two in the minors. As for catchers Salty would be more in the Marlins price range, I can't see why McCann or Pierzynski would even consider the Marlins

I don't see an ounce of logic in your desire to overpay for someone like Saltalamacchia.
Backin2008
Saltalamacchia can hit, but he's a horrible defensive catcher. He's not worth the money he will probably get. The Marlins shouldn't waste money on a guy like him. Kurt Suzuki or Dioner Navarro would be better value for the money.
Admin
I question if Navarro can duplicate his 2013 season.
Wild Card
I question if Navarro can duplicate his 2013 season. He doesn't have to duplicate last year to have an impact on our lineup behind the plate... He could drop .100 points from his OPS and he would be a major upgrade. Admin
Yeah but he may get paid as if he'd be duplicating it.
Backin2008
Maybe you have to overpay sometimes. If the alternate is watching Mathis and Brantly again......I would offer Navarro a big contract.
Wild Card
Yeah but he may get paid as if he'd be duplicating it. Doesn't seem to be the case. ESPN is saying he could be had for a "Soto-like deal" which would be extremely reasonable. If he were getting paid to replicate last season he would get a Ruiz-type deal and that's obviously not happening.
