March 14, 201412 yr 2B Furcal LF Yelich C Saltalamacchia RF Stanton 1B Baker 3B McGehee CF Ozuna SS Hechavarria P Fernandez I'm pretty sure this is what the starting day Opening Day lineup is going to look like. On a side note, I really hope this is how the team deals with lineups moving forward LF Yelich 2B Furcal (Dietrich vs RHP/Lucas vs LHP after Furcal gets injured or sucks) RF Stanton C Saltalamacchia 1B Baker vs LHP/Jones vs RHP 3B McGehee CF Ozuna vs LHP/Bogusevic vs RHP (I think Ozuna can benefit from either minor league seasoning or being a bench guy this year) SS Hechavarria (somebody replace him pls) P Fernandez Dietrich hits lefties fine. No chance in hell Ozuna rides the bench, especially not because of Bogusevic. The only people sending Ozuna down that could start are Jensen, Marisnick, or even Keys if he keeps hitting .330.

March 15, 201412 yr Who knew that would do the trick?! Hitting it where they ain't seems like such an easy concept. And it is. But show us where they have been doing that in this park that basically demands that kind of offense. Hasn't happened. Could be that the players have been trying to do too much. Inexperience at this level. Whatever. Bottom line is that they haven't been doing it. Now we are on our 5th hitting coach since 2010 and he is preaching it. It's not something I noticed, it's been well reported that's what he is going after.
March 15, 201412 yr Really? It's not that hard to figure out. The players suck--that what's why they hit the ball to the place where fielders are. It's like having our own Tim McCarver on the board.

March 15, 201412 yr Probably the same reasoning the Marlins have, I imagine, by making Ozuna the starter. Less to lose by rushing Ozuna instead of Marisnick. They both need to play in AAA. Start with Johnson or bugs. Marisnick has had an encouraging few weeks but I want to see a few months in the minors of it before I put him back in that position. Ozuna needs to find his power. Just need one of them to work out.

Totally agree. Although I would rather have Kyle Jensen in LF and Yelich in CF, but apparently that's not going to happen. No idea why.

March 16, 201412 yr Really? It's not that hard to figure out. The players suck--that what's why they hit the ball to the place where fielders are. It's like having our own Tim McCarver on the board. And yet basically the very same players are starting to do it. Amazing. And again, because it was so "conviently" ignored, it's what they are saying, not me. So go harrass the players and coaching staff. I'm sure they will say you couple of guys are too smart and cool for them, too. I'm done with the 5th grade remarks/mentality from you all.

It's Spring Training. This is the time of year when all coaches talk about situational hitting and hitting it where they ain't or whatever. At the end of the year, it'll be another mediocre offensive team because the offense is mediocre. It's also not "basically the very same players." While the offense isn't very good, it's still a lot better than the crap we were trotting out there for much of last year. Of course, you drawing conclusions from Spring Training isn't anything new.

Starting to do what? You understand that every hitter tries to hit the ball to where the fielders aren't standing, right? That's why several people on the board are mocking you.
