May 13, 201412 yr At least you're willing to admit players can get better. That's a first. I don't think that's true at all.
May 13, 201412 yr Author I don't think that's true at all. If you have said that before I certainly don't recall.
May 13, 201412 yr If you have said that before I certainly don't recall. Nothing about the way I use statistics says that players cannot improve. It's probably more that you always wrongly assume that players are improving on their own when they are actually playing over their heads (like I have demonstrated with Samardzija) and I have to be the bearer of bad news to you. That's probably why you have that misperception. It's like whenever a player puts up better numbers, you blindly assume it's for real.
May 13, 201412 yr Samardzija is good, but not as good as the Cubs will think he is when they trade him. Some team will overpay, hopefully it won't be the Marlins. I think that any of the guys we would trade for him (Nicolino, DeSclafani) could be just as good as Samardzija is, in time. Although, I wouldn't mind hearing Miami fans say, "Samardzija"
May 13, 201412 yr Define Ace? As far as I'm concerned he is the Ace of the Cubs. Whatever that is worth.
May 13, 201412 yr Define Ace? As far as I'm concerned he is the Ace of the Cubs. Whatever that is worth. If he's the ace of the Cubs, I don't see how that would help the Marlins very much.
May 13, 201412 yr Define Ace? As far as I'm concerned he is the Ace of the Cubs. Whatever that is worth. That's like being the richest person in a third world country though. Doesn't make you rich.
May 13, 201412 yr Define Ace? As far as I'm concerned he is the Ace of the Cubs. Whatever that is worth. A few years ago, Ricky Nolasco was the ace of the Marlins.
May 13, 201412 yr Hell no. The Marlins are not competing this year. Koehler and Turner are still a big question mark still on this team moving forward
May 13, 201412 yr Author Hell no. The Marlins are not competing this year. Koehler and Turner are still a big question mark still on this team moving forward More of reason IMO.
May 13, 201412 yr Id do it. Is he pitching over his head, sure. Good time to trade him, bad time to trade for him.
May 13, 201412 yr a career year's a career year. do it. Could be a career first half though and in the process we blow up our system in what is likely a lost season anyway.
May 13, 201412 yr Frisaro is so dumb. Sick of his articles and I was sick of his tweets before unfollowing. He's just terrible. We shouldn't have the record we have, and make a run at it now that we have lost the best pitchers in baseball is insane. Exactly. I know that was only a blog post, but that is the bottom rung of any journalistic standard.
May 13, 201412 yr Author Could be a career first half though and in the process we blow up our system in what is likely a lost season anyway. To be fair, I would only do it if we didn't have to blow up the system...
May 13, 201412 yr To be fair, I would only do it if we didn't have to blow up the system... Then you won't have a trade to make because the Cubs will want a lot.
May 13, 201412 yr To be fair, I would only do it if we didn't have to blow up the system... As Admin says, trading for Samardzija will now command a lot. There's likely no deal that can be worked out that will benefit the Marlins.
May 13, 201412 yr I would have NEVER attempted to trade my pogs with wild card. Definitely one of those kids that wanted like 2 slammers for some bs hologram pog. I'd hate to see what Wild Card is like when he plays fantasy baseball.
May 13, 201412 yr We shouldn't be trading for any starting pitchers. I'd like a new shortstop and first baseman please and thank you.
