What the fuck does age have to do with rooting for talent. Furcal is 36 coming off tommy john. Wolf and Slowey are both old and their career average is a 4.5 era.

 

Heaney has the talent to be better than that, and Dietrich is the best option for 2B right now that the team has.

But all these wonderful defensive plays by Dietrich & Co. have increased Alvarez' pitch count to the point that he's unlikely to go much longer. So if Dunn or Jennings, or some other bullpen clown comes in and blows the game, that will also be on Derek Dietrich. And I actually do like the kid! If he was hitting, I'd be more willing to give him a pass on defense. But you can't be a bum defensively and a .240 hitter.
