July 8, 201412 yr Author Like I said, minus the walk rate, I do like those numbers. However ... Erick, any scouting report you can give us on his peripherals or stuff or his POPAWOPBIP?
July 8, 201412 yr Yeah it trading away the ability to spend money just like we did in the draft. The Marlins are finding more creative ways to spend less. The poorest team in the league just bought an extra 1 mil in spending from us.
July 9, 201412 yr Rays used the money to help lessen the penalty of signing the #1 international prospect. We started with more than double their cap space.
July 9, 201412 yr Things like this anger me. Alot. Jokes anger you? Remind me not to give you tickets to the improv.
July 9, 201412 yr Your attempts at humor generally dont phase me. Trading away draft and international FA pool money does.
July 9, 201412 yr Your attempts at humor generally dont phase me. Trading away draft and international FA pool money does. Based on those numbers, it actually looks like the Marlins got awesome value for Ramsey. Less than a million bucks for what could be a solid major league reliever.
July 9, 201412 yr Based on those numbers, it actually looks like the Marlins got awesome value for Ramsey. Less than a million bucks for what could be a solid major league reliever. Or they could have used their international pool to try and get some good international talent. Their recent history of signing older players and scraping the barrel for lesser upside players has grown stale.
July 9, 201412 yr Or they could have used their international pool to try and get some good international talent. Their recent history of signing older players and scraping the barrel for lesser upside players has grown stale. Or, for less than a million bucks, they can have a guy that is very close to being major league ready for a struggling bullpen. Think of it this way, it's like drafting someone with your third round pick, paying them a $1 Mill bonus, and they begin dominating double-A immediately. That's like the best case scenario ever.

Think of it this way, it's like drafting someone with your third round pick, paying them a $1 Mill bonus, and they begin dominating double-A immediately. That's like the best case scenario ever. It's not really a struggling bullpen at this point.
July 10, 201412 yr It's not really a struggling bullpen at this point. Cishek can't close a door lately. And far from the point.
July 10, 201412 yr Cishek can't close a door lately. And far from the point. Its actually a very fair point, considering a struggling bullpen was your entire pretext.
July 10, 201412 yr I'd rather do this than trade current prospects for Bullpen help. It's not ideal, but this left the organization pretty much intact and added an option.
July 21, 201412 yr Still hasn't allowed an earned run for the Suns (5 games, 7.2 IP, 3 hits, 1 BB, 9 SO). ERA in AA this year is 0.87 in 41.1 IP. Anybody think they give him a shot in September?
