4/28 Post Game

For what it's worth, I'm still not a big believer in this starting rotation.

Can't wait until Henderson and Jose come back.

No.

How do you expect them to perform the rest of the way?

I would certainly enjoy that, but considering Haren hasn't done that since 2011 and that's a far cry from Koehler's entire career, I'm unsure how you can expect them to do that.

What part of their game improves to get them to those levels, and why/how do you expect that aspect of their game to improve?

I'm not complaining (?), I'm actually trying to get you to critically think about it as it seems your thought process is more entrenched in homer-ism than objectiveness*.

While he was okay last year (still a below average ERA), he had a low HR/FB and a higher-than-expected strikeout rate even though he was still getting swing and misses at a below average rat. Regression back to his 2012 form (when had a 4.41 ERA, which everyone wants to forget) is not surprising at all.

For him to suddenly become a 3.30 ERA pitcher, something about his game is going to have to improve.

*More accurately, I'm procrastinating and this is giving me something to do.

He was basically a 4 ERA guy in his last two years in the minors and last season was basically the best season of his life while spending the whole season living on the edge (I'm sure somebody can pull up stats on how many times he got out of runners on base situations).

I love how surprisingly decent Koehler has become, especially considering just two years ago he was really nothing more than minor league filler for us, but he's really really combustible. I think Koehler's a nice guy to have as a #5 starter but nothing more than that. Unfortunately we have a few too many of those #4/5 types. We have a lot of them to test out (and we haven't even seen Nicolino/Urena/Williams/Conley even get a shot in the majors yet), which is cool, but I'm not sure how many of our guys have even #3 potential let alone anything beyond that like Alvarez and Fernandez currently are at.

Well if Latos finds his velocity again then we have a #2. Bif if though.

Should be pretty obvious I meant 2013, the year he had the ERA I stated :unsure

He isn't even far off from what he was in 2014.

I really don't understand why people keep saying this. Yes, 2013 was quite a bit better. But that's what happens when you have bone chips in your elbow removed then miss the start of the year and are hampered by a knee injury for a lot of 2014. Even still he is only about 2 MPH off of what his fastball was in 2013 on average.

In other words, he's doing fine all things considered after his first start.

Maybe our pitchers are doing better because Salty just sucked at everything, including calling games.

Redmond himself pretty much said that so yeah, this is probably more true than not. I mean if there's one thing Redmond would know, this is it.

Man I HATE Mets fans. On the subreddit they act all fucking high and mighty about how they're such tough shit and how the Marlins aren't as good as them. I' sorry, but that offense they have is nothing special in the least bit, their bullpen is going to fall down to Earth, Colon isn't going to hold that K/BB ratio and they aren't going to be playing 9 games over .500 for long. I can't fucking wait until they start to lose five or six in a row, and I hope tonight will be the second game of that losing streak.

FUCK THE METS!

Despite all the Mets fans that show up, we still have the 3rd lowest attendance in baseball. Such a shame.

I'll be there Sunday

Our record and initial shit streak to begin the season isn't helping. Still disappointing though.

I tried getting some friends to join me on Sunday to go to the game and watch us potentially sweep the Nats and Yelich gold glove give away and no one wanted to go. Miami people are fickle and lame fans, they only want to go once the Marlins start getting national attention and people start talking about them at work and how they're winning and it's cool to go and we're doing well so they can take selfies and post it on IG, bla bla bla.

Guarantee you if we started 11-3 instead of 3-11 our attendance would be much higher, and although you can argue it would be the same with just about every team/city, it's a more drastic swing with the Marlins and Miami fans.

All this is true but there's also an argument that with Miami fans, even an 11-3 start wouldn't raise attendance much as they only seem to care when its postseason time.
