May 20, 201511 yr If they do fire sale I really hope Manfred takes away the ASG from Loria. Or force him to sell for lack of integrity. I doubt there is a fire sale simply because there's little they can legit sell. But yes, he probably would if that happened.
May 20, 201511 yr Andy Barkett I would think Hey as long as it's someone not named Frank or Lenny. This offensive approach is abysmal.
May 20, 201511 yr Who exactly would be "sold" in this sell off though? Exactly. I don't think people understand that in "sell" mode you're selling your good, older players to rebuild for the future. In a rebuild you'd be looking at trading Morse, Latos, Cishek, Haren, Prado, Ichiro, Dunn, and maybe a few other players here and there. These would be the guys who aren't under contract long term and don't really have a huge future with the team. Unfortunately, none of these players are worth all that much. We're kind of stuck with the current team and are forced to see if they can rebound. There are a lot of young good players on the team in Gordon/Stanton/Yelich/Ozuna/Fernandez/Alvarez. The failure of the season was choosing the incorrect supporting pieces other than Gordon. Bullpen is extremely underwhelming, the talented young offense has a lot of pieces underperforming, and the starting rotation is filled with #4's and 5's without Alvarez and Fernandez. I think the biggest thing the team can do to try and turn things around is inject some young energy into the team. Jose Urena and Justin Nicolino are both doing well in AAA. Once the Super 2 deadline passes and we don't have to worry about losing a year on Nicolino I want to see both called up and given rotation spots in place of guys like Latos/Koehler and possibly even Cosart. I don't expect them to light the world on fire but at 8 games under .500 you need to start experimenting.
May 20, 201511 yr only player can bring good player will be stanton alot team ask for him but he key to team sign long time
May 20, 201511 yr only player can bring good player will be stanton alot team ask for him but he key to team sign long time He has a no trade clause and a very team friendly deal at least before his opt-out. Zero reasons to trade him even in a "fire sale"
May 20, 201511 yr what i don't get how did hill and Dan Jennings think this was good line up make noise this season
May 20, 201511 yr Author Just another expectation year that becomes a colossal disaster. This is a talented team but everyone is just finding ways to lose.
May 20, 201511 yr Overall, the offense sucks and the bullpen sucks...again. Dunn needs to be DFA'ed. I wonder if they can just eat Morse's money, kick his ass to the curb and just start Bour. I wonder if I can sue Loria to get my money back for my mlbtv subscription. And the thing is we have options in the minors with Wittgren, Capps (who just got the call because of Cosart; should have been here sooner), Rienzo who can be a decent long reliever instead of Hand as long as Koehler is in the roty, Grant Dayton, etc. The fact that these guys are getting the leash they are getting is ridiculous.
May 20, 201511 yr When do we trade for a 1b? Or do we just give it to Bour? Bour has been good enough to warrant getting the job.
May 20, 201511 yr According to Dan Jennings, we've hit 25 hard hit balls in the last 2 games that have turned into outs so we'll turn it around soon. Don't worry!

May 20, 201511 yr Bour has been good enough to warrant getting the job. I'd totally be down for them to go after Ike Davis. OAK got Muncy and Freiman, and Vogt can also play 1b.

Honestly, if Bour were to fail and Brady Shoemaker keeps hitting the way he is hitting, I'd give him the shot. Dude has been awesome all season so far and he has great career numbers.

Dude has been awesome all season so far and he has great career numbers. I'm all about grabbing people in the farm, but the team needs a big power lefty bat with experience in the lineup. Lefty 1b are the cream of the crop, just look at all of them past and present. that's what this offense is missing in my opinion.

Shoemaker is a righty but huge. 598 H, 215 XBH in his career. .868 OPS. And on a tear right now. He missed all of 2013 which is probably why he has never gotten a shot. But he's still got it.
