2015 - 2016 Florida Panthers season

We're actually playing not so well but whatever let's keep this streak alive.

Yeah Edmonton had 50 shots at the end of 2 pds, insane.

OT loss to the Canucks. Wish we would have won that one for Luongo, but whatever. Lost to Markstrom too. :(

Got a point though. 26-12-5 not so bad. Maybe the loss will serve as a bit of a wake up call because they actually hadn't been playing that well lately despite all the wins.

I really hope we beat the shit out of Edmonton when the team returns home on Monday for what they did to Ekblad.

Of course it would come to an average team. I thought for sure it was going to be winning 16 and losing the all time streak to the Chicago Blackhawks or something like that.

But whatever. Remember when 3 games was considered a big deal for the Panthers?

Hendricks won't fight Thornton. I doubt it. Maybe someone like MacKenzie.

Team still blows.

At least Gudbranson whooping Hendricks ass all over the ice was fun.

Dude for real, I hope this isn't a month long meltdown, it's shaping up that way. Interested to see if they make any trades after the AS break. Need another Top 4 D Man, Petrovic has been a bit lost lately, and 2nd line winger.

They could definitely use another d man and another center wouldn't hurt either. They have a lot of trouble winning faceoffs.

I was actually at this game tonight, and I just wanted to add that Vincent Trocheck looked like he was playing for Edmonton out there. I don't dislike him or anything, but he was terrible tonight.

We have some one-dimensional forwards on this team who aren't even giving us the one dimension.

Not sure what his contract looks like right now, but Dustin Byfuglien would be nice to have at the trade deadline.

Mildly pricey, but with only a year left on his contract. That arguably makes him the best type of add, given that he could be playing in a contract year next season. Usually correlates to better play -- and he could be easy to flip.

I'd be for it, if the price was right.

4-0 win against the Blackhawks!

A win against the Lightning tomorrow night would be nice.

Definitely the right team to win against, if you're looking to be taken seriously.

Also, the win last night was a huge ++ for putting Ekblad in the tail end of that Norris discussion, seeing how much of an x-factor he is when he's in the lineup.

Dominant 2nd period tonight by the team followed by a dominant 3rd period by Roberto Luongo leads the Panthers to a 5-2 win over the Lightning!

In other news, Brandon Pirri could be traded in the near future.

I watched the game last night. I haven't followed hockey since i played back in the late 90s but there was nothing else to watch. Panthers seem...good but not very good. How is their record so good?

They played pretty well last night, so not sure what you mean.

They were terrible in the third, but I think some of that had to do with the team playing conservative with a 4-0 lead in the second of a B2B. They looked awesome in the 2nd period.

Either way, they've gotten great goaltending all year. It's been the key to the team's success; when your goalies are stopping about 93% of the pucks they face, the team is going to do well. That might falter some in the second half leading the team to regress a bit.

For the most part, the team defense has been very good at limiting quality scoring chances. The 3rd period last night is not how they usually look.

Offensively, they're not the most dynamic team, but they've gotten contributions from all four lines.

As of right now, the major weakness has been the powerplay. If they could get that fixed in the 2nd half, it would help them sustain their 1st half success.

All in all though, the key has been the goaltending and the depth. They have one of the deepest systems in hockey so they don't miss much when certain players get injured. Some of the injuries have actually been addition by subtraction. In terms of depth, they're basically the anti-Marlins.
