Coaching staff

Featured Replies

There are 2 candidates outside the organization and one internal one for the pitching coach position. None of which are Chuck Hernandez.

Any big names?

So it looks like Mattingly is fine with the staff as it was for the most part? That's odd.

So Mattingly couldn't convince more of his LA staff to come... or maybe he honestly liked more of our guys than we expected? As long as we get a new pitching coach I'm fine with the rest. I didn't hate Chuck but a new approach there would be welcome.

Yes

and yes, he was in favor of these guys sticking AFTER his guys declined because of their familiarity with the roster.

How likely are we to land the big name(s)? Any hints?

You da best bruh

Can't argue the familiarity of the coaching staff here. If he can't bring his guys then might as well go with the status quo.

Who would be considered a big name pitching coach that isn't already hired? I can only think of Maddux.

Also, Frisaro says the Marlins and Menechino are already finalizing his deal to return.

And yes, Butler was good at his job. I wonder if he's leaving out of anything personal with Loria considering the confusion when he was removed from the third base coaching spot.

Barry Jackson reporting that Lenny Harris will be Assistant Hitting Coach and 3B Coach. If Davey Lopes comes it will basically fill the role of Brett Butler. Doing baser running and such.

One used to coach in the division, the other was a coach somewhere last season. Those are the outside possibilities as of now. Could look for more names. Internal guy isn't really a "big" name though we all have heard of him.

Former Major League Baseball pitching coach Leo Mazzone has an answer to the exponentially growing number of serious arm injuries, and the era of the pitch count, which tends to treat starting pitchers with kidicon1.png gloves in an effort to avoid the dreaded Tommy John surgery.

Make pitchers throw more.
