If its for over 200 mil, Cubs can have him.

Good luck to Heyward, may he hit .150 or below in the 19 meetings with the Cardinals next year.

just give the cubs the WS title. Another team the uses a beautiful mix of analytics and $$$$ for their players. Marlins uses neither.

1:47pm: Heyward’s contract does indeed contain the option to opt out early, reports MLB Network’s Peter Gammons (Twitter link). However, he can opt out not only once, but twice, per Gammons. ESPN Chicago’s Jesse Rogers reports (also on Twitter) that the first opt-out clause comes three years into the contract, meaning Heyward can hit the open market entering his age-29 season if he chooses.

I'm honestly shocked he didn't get $200 million.

Gotta think Upton and Cespedes sign soon now, although they can't be too happy with Heyward only getting $184 million. Knocks down their prices quite a bit.

@Admin can I request a cubs subforum here that I'll moderate? I'm a cubs fan now.

Damn you 11 year old Iowa for becoming a Marlins fan 20 years ago.

Still got to celebrate 2 ws titles. 2 more than you otherwise would have celebrated as a Cubs fan.

he has TWO opt outs!!! One after only 3 years. It's an awesome contract for Heyward. If he's still awesome in three years, that 184 becomes a MUCH larger #.

It's time to switch. Cubs are going to win their first any year now, right? Plus fuck Loria I've had enough.

astros dawg

I have Chicago ties so its Chicago for me.

i was just there for work. Some dude said to me "to bad you're not gay, you are so fucking sexy"

There's already a Heyward thread. Hate to tell you but it comes off like click bait when you don't put it in that thread.

Also he got less than expected. Given the current market I wouldn't say he got "a lot". Could make the argument that he got far less than his worth with an inflating free agent market (the same inflating market that has led the Marlins to sign abso-freaking-lutely nobody so far).

Cubs are probably going to win a WS in the next 2-3 years.
