Did that really air? Because I understand the point of taking jabs at Minervini and Frisaro but it comes at the expense of clearly being disrespectful to the Marlins and their players. Almost every negative story they highlighted there was twisted to seem worse. Yeah Dee deserves shit but Ichiro getting mocked for giving a dull interview? Making fun of the Marlins for being in fourth place when they're 3.5 games back in a division where four teams are over .500? Ripping on Stanton for strikeouts while ignoring everything he does so well? That's insulting. Yeah the Marlins have had negative stories this year but they have also had positives overall.

I don't mind the Marlins getting negative coverage, but Manso and channel 10 love to kiss the Dolphins ass. Notice how he mentioned all the teams and said nothing negative about the Dolphins. "As the Dolphins are trying to do..."

They're currently a garbage franchise just like the Marlins. But they're always the lead of the sports news because they're the Dolphins. I don't know what Minervini's point was, but he might have one. The Dolphins get covered here all year and they suck every year led by a guy who's also a terrible owner.

For what it's worth, Minervini is destroying these guys on Twitter. It's kind of fun.

I think they were illustrating that they are covering the marlins accurately, and that there isn't anything extraordinarily positive about this team to go nuts over.

It's not about going nuts over it. It's about not glossing over the Marlins when they're doing better.

For what it's worth, this all started when Adam Kuperstein, from channel 6, did a "only 10% of the people in Miami know Ichiro post," which is a dumb thing for a professional sportscaster to bring up as Ichiro is chasing history.

he's right. but didn't like the ichiro part.

I myself have never felt the media does the Marlins justice outside of the two championships. Granted it's been brought on by our tumultuous history but I don't think it's fair that journalists, who are in theory supposed to be unbiased, have always cherry picked the negative stories and glossed over the positive notes under the assumption that the general public doesn't care about the Marlins and would rather laugh at our faults than enjoy our positives. Whenever I tell someone something good we did they're like oh I had no idea and the media doesn't help that problem. If they did their jobs fairly then maybe they could do their part to help the perception change.

Not sure about the terrible owner part but this.

Agreed wholeheartedly.

What is he saying and to whom? Don't use twitter.

I loved how the Marlins, according to Manso, are just ahead of the Braves the worst team in the majors for 4th place but fails to mention how then remaining four teams in the division are locked into a close race for the division title. His narative effectively illustrated the point being made regarding local coverage. I'm make.mention of it to Minervini next time in see him.

lol. lots of smoke and mirrors on that one. I will say this. this is the type of video i'd show the team. could it rile them up? apparently they never saw it today by judging todays game.

Ross isn't a bad owner in the sense that Loria is a bad owner. Ross spends some serious $$ to bring in talent but so far everything he's tried just hasn't clicked.  To lump him in with a true shitty owner like Loria is unfair though.  Ross just seems to be loyal to some of the lousy executives that run that team.  He's never been gun shy about dishing out the big bucks for talent though so Dolphin fans can at least look forward to the offseason almost every year because chances are they'll be in on at least one big name.

This. In an effort to mock us they're once again missing the positives in the bigger picture.

In the clip we're 3.5 games out of first at the end of May and he's making fun of that.

I'd gloss over the Marlins too if I were them. People don't really care about the team, and May just ended. If the marlins are in any sort of playoff hunt, they will cover the team. The heat and dolphins are going to get the most time and coverage because their viewers care more about those teams. Let's not forget that local news is a business, and not a community service.

I understand it's a business but the news is supposed to be fair and unbiased. Maybe if they weren't so NOT fair and unbiased towards the Marlins then maybe people would care more about the team. The way the media paints the team goes a long way towards public perception so, as a die hard Marlins fan, I'd appreciate if they did more than nothing to help that perception.

I'll never forget days after the 2012 trade with Toronto the local news aired some jackwad saying "I'm so mad because they traded away their five BEST players!!!" John Buck, Emilio Bonifacio, a regressing Josh Johnson... you can make a case for Reyes and Buerhle at the time but come on.

The news in this case is fair. It would be unfair to equally cover all teams at the expense of not making their viewers happy. The marlins are the comedy punching bag of the mlb, but that's because our owner is shit and does retarded things (oh noes I'm not being PC. Someone yell at me). It's not like the news make things up. They've been given plenty of head scratching and godzilla facepalm material over the years. Wouldn't it be unfair and biased if they didn't report it just to paint a better picture of the local sports team?

You can report both the good and bad, I never said cover up the negatives.

If that's the case, they should just cover the Heat. They're the only franchise down here that hasn't been a joke.

Isn't covering the Dolphins a wate of time also? But people get jacked year after year. They are perennial 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 team. COL yet the news media says playoff likely or even super bowl potential

Because the media makes people like the Dolphins. If they talked about the Dolphins like they do the Marlins, people would just make fun of the Dolphins too.

And, yes, the Dolphins have been criticized too, but, if you listen to sports talk radio for example, it's just mostly a bunch of former football players who are pumped up for football season. The Dolphins, to the media, are the team that can suck forever and do little to no wrong.

The Dolphins are going to suck again this year, but I bet there will be hype heading into the season.

The Marlins are a bad franchise under Loria, but the Dolphins have also been trash for a long time. And they're going to continue to be trash for a long time too. I don't see the difference.

That's fair, but the Marlins have some good memories too, don't they?

the dolphins also go out and sign FA's like Suh (whether they are winning or not) which tends to bring a ton of positive press and gets people EXCITED during the offseason and whether it's warranted or not, gives hope leading up to the season opener.  Unfortuantely their moves haven't really panned out but they usually keep things interesting throughout the offseason which leads to storylines and positivity heading into the season opener.

Joe Rose called Minervini a little bitch this morning lol.

I do wish though that the local sports radio spent a bit more time talking about the Marlins. 560 is all Heat/Dolphins/with a small bit of Panthers due to the recent success. 790 is all Heat. Andy Slater does talk Marlins briefly on 940, but probably because he's forced to being 940 airs the games.

The Marlins have done that too.

With that said, I understand squall's explanation. It doesn't help that a lot of the baseball fans down here already rooted for other teams before the Marlins existed.
