June 3, 201610 yr Remember there is always the ability to take most of a salary in exchange for low level prospects. Also you could flip the scenario and say trade Dee instead of Dietrich? Yes, the same could apply to Dee too even though I'd think that's less likely.

That can not happen. Dee being suspended is the reason Stanton is lost at the plate. Seems to have taken a few days off to be with him and it worked.

Unless Dee Gordon has the ability to take over other people's bodies, I'm going to go out on a limb and say he isn't responsible for Stanton's struggles.

June 3, 201610 yr The minor league system really stinks so it makes me wonder if they trade to get better by trading big league players. If Hech continues something similar to a .250/.278/.347 pace and they feel like they won't be able to extend him long-term, I'd have to imagine they consider trading him for a SP & give the SS position to Rojas. I could see them losing patience with Barraclough's walks. Barraclough would certainly have trade value too because any rebuilding team would love to take a chance on a reliever like him. I could also see them using Dietrich as a trade chip since Dee is coming back. Not that all (or any) of these guys will be traded, but it's tough to make a major trade when your most intriguing minor league prospect in the upper levels at this point is Tomas Telis. If they do something major, it'll probably be a big leaguer for big leaguer type of deal. I am not crazy about dealing Hech just for the simple fact that Rojas isn't that much better. He has a decent year but I feel Hech offers more, defense, speed and base running wise. Glove wise I think Rojas offers the most value when he plays short but definitely is a plus in the other positions he has filled in. Unless we get a proven starter for Hech I say no right now and explore it in the off season if no contract extension is made. Barraclough being traded is interesting, but with our barren system I don't see the Marlins looking at it right now. Although teams like the Reds, Braves, or Brewers would probably be interested. We all know how volatile relievers can be. I don't see them using Dietrich as a trade chip because even if Dee comes back and does great and the Marlins make it to the post season, he can't play per the PED rules. Who are you going to replace Dee with now? Also, this might be a dumb question, but can injured players be traded? If so, I'm guessing some teams wouldn't mind giving up an asset to take a chance on a guy like Carter Capps next year. Yes injured players can be traded, it has been done a couple times. Mets were also shopping Wheeler last year and the Brewers wanted him in a deal for Carlos Gomez. Wheeler called Sandy Alderson and really expressed a desire to stay with the Mets. Carter Capps will be cheap next year, probably around $1.5 million or so maybe even less. Better believe the Marlins are gonna hold onto him and see if he can repeat what he did in 2015.
June 4, 201610 yr If this team cared about winning they'd take on shields contract. There is literally nothing in FA next year and our sp is pretty suspect at best
