Kids 18 years old and some of you guys are complaining he's only throwing 92. Plus curveball and feel for the change up is much more important than throwing 97

Well when they say 88-92, you usually tend to go towards the lower end on the regular. That likely means he touches 92 but sits in the high 80s. Definitely something to at least discuss since a high eighties fastball with little movement is going to get hammered if it stays that way in the majors.

Still, he's just 18 years old a some room to bulk up to add at least some speed on his fastball. I'd rather go with a guy like Garrett who has great control and can eventually improve his fastball a bit than a guy with a huge fastball but no control.

Everything I'm seeing makes me see Garrett as a high school, less developed version of when we took Heaney out of Oklahoma State. Wouldn't be bad if we could get a Heaney in the system again.

The Lewis guy gets picked by Seattle, they've really screwed the pooch on college players like Ackley and Zunino, good thing the Fish passed on him

You are dead on with the amount of movement being indicative on how successful he is with the fastball. No matter if a prospect is throwing 88 or 98 coming out, if it's flat, it will get hit at the big league level. Movement can be taught fairly easily as he develops different finger pressures and arm slots. But the key reports about Garrett is that he already has a plus offspeed pitch, feel for the change up and has a repeatable, controlled delivery. Thus, my point about guys complaining about Velo as a high schooler being ignorant and not important

Also, reviewing the draft picks today I noticed the Marlins' first two picks were Garrett & Jones.

Garrett, Jones.

Once again... Fuck!
