The SP market isn't good, and the few good ones are guys we probably can't get realistically. Other teams want these guys too and have better farm systems. Rodney was a realistic target.
July 1, 201610 yr it was a factor, is my point Yeah I know what you mean. Of course the fact he is signed for virtually nothing next year matters. It'd matter to other teams too but they were willing to trade for guys making more. Those teams just apparently didn't think Paddack was good enough.

Odorozzi > everyone besides jose on our staff i agree, no way he alone gets odor. I also agree rodney for paddack is a fair trade. The HUGE issue is we don't need rodney (unless we're trading AJ Ramos) and we really need a chris paddack

Padres wanted Paddack for him, Marlins paid the price. Only other option was to walk away and not acquire the arm they thought they needed for a playoff run.
