Although I agree with you, I love to see how it plots out compared to his other plays. And it would be interested if it could be superimposed on other people's catches. I feel that if this could be plotted with the Marlins' entire outfield and compared to other teams' outfields, people (Marlins fans and others) would see how awesome our outfield is. I certainly hope that Loria doesn't decide to break this group up.

Yes, because some catches end up looking like highlight plays because of bad jumps. This analysis tells us that Stanton's catches were in fact very difficult plays that most right fielders don't make.

July 17, 201610 yr @Das Texan is not a bandwagon fan at all. He's an asshole but he is not a frontrunner. I've known him for over 20 years and can attest to that.
July 17, 201610 yr My eyes and experience watching games told me the same thing. And most of the time, your eyes and experience are right. But it can be hard to gauge a fielder's first step, which could potentially make an otherwise routine play into a sprawling, diving catch. This was the issue Hech had in his first few years. Great tools, poor instincts, so diving plays made highlight reels but could have been made upright with a better first step. Summary: Stanton is good.
