Hey, David Phelps, one of the most consistent arms in our bullpen, is being moved to the rotation on Friday. I'm just trying to understand what this means for his stuff. Before he was a bad pitcher because he could only throw low 90s. This year he has been able to hit 95 with 2 of his 3 fastball offerings. Does anyone know if I/we, should expect that same relief arm or if I/we should expect that awful POS he was last year as a starter. If the latter, I'd rather give urena and/or nicolino the start.

I mean after lost Rea,we got nothing to replace him.

 

 

It's literally a necessity move. Everyone would rather see Phelps in the 8th inning, but we don't have a 5th now and the team doesn't trust urena and nicolino.

 

Phelps is an ok starter, not much to write home about. He's serviceable which is why he's getting the start.

I didn't know this was a concern. If it is, I suggest he rub one out before the game and he should be fine throughout his start.

Phelps is just going to have to pace himself and keep enough in the tank to bring the heat when he needs it.

If rubbing one out gives velocity to your fastball then @Admin should be throwing harder than Chapman.
