Post Game 8/3

You guys are adorable. All it takes is a sweep of the Rockies and youre all right back to fan boys. Sit back and enjoy the season... ya know, since it's august and we're still in it for once

The same guys calling for the season to be over will be the one doing back flips when we get back on a winning streak. This place is more an Improv after a losing streak.

If Ramos preferred to face Rizzo in that situation and said so, it's an even dumber move to walk him.

If you're going to manage the situation like "he's the closer, he's our guy," then have the confidence in him to get Rizzo out. One or the other.

Mattingly is a "he's our guy" manager and that's why he absolutely sucks at his job.

Well in this case, Ramos seems like he's doing the exact opposite.

Ramos said he could get Rizzo. Mattingly walked Rizzo. That's what I mean. You don't let players manage the team. You walk Rizzo there and take your chances with the next batter. Don did what the majority of managers would do.

Don is far from a perfect manager but blaming him for yesterday's loss is ridiculous.

Some of the people that dislike him also disliked past managers and will dislike future managers though. They should hire some of the members here to manage! Clearly we are a board full of potential Managers of the Year.

A sweep of the Rockies? I'm hoping we can at least take one. This team has been mediocre since the break.

Yes,10-10 since break was really mediocre.

I would have walked Rizzo too. The tying run was already on third and the winning run on second. Either Zobrist or Rizzo could have won the game with one hit, but walking Rizzo created a force at any base, I'd have taken that. If Rizzo had gotten a hit and won the game you'd have all hated that move too. It was a lose lose situation all around but I didn't hate the walk to Rizzo.

I think it's normal that a fan think self be a better manager.

But he's not talking like your typical pitcher who tells his manager "I can get this guy." He's admitting that he didn't have his stuff and almost wouldn't seem surprised/upset if he got lifted.

Sounds like he's only saying that he'd rather face Rizzo because he was afraid that he'd walk Zobrist.

Doesn't sound like he's trying to manage the game. It sounds like to me he's admitting he was pitching like shit and thought that Mattingly made some poor decisions in light of that.

That's my take on that.

penguino does have a point there. Ramos' comments do have some merit. It wasn't "I can do this skip!" it was "I honestly don't think I can do this."

Yeah, exactly. He's definitely second guessing Mattingly here, but it's because he has not enough confidence to get the outs based on the situations Mattingly was setting up.

Regardless, you don't let players make managerial decisions or you should first be fired. That's my main point and I stand by it. You have to walk Rizzo there, if you don't and Rizzo wins it... just imagine the reactions. Well I guess it'd be the same since for a lot of people here Don is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

Rodney would be more effective in the ninth imo. He is just one of those alpha male, needs the spot light on him in order to shine kind of guy. Give him the ninth and watch him dominate.

I think it is true.He needs only a short while to adapt . He is not Chapman, but it is absolute different price nowdays.I'm sure Rodney will be helpfull

this season in many games.

Doesn't sound like he was trying to do that at all. It's more like he's second guessing Mattingly's thought process after the fact.

This reinforces my belief that Mattingly was at least partially responsible for yesterday's loss.

Most manager have no the gust to call to the bullpen when closer on the mound, and Don of course have no different.

I am blame him for not pull Ramos,if he do that but we still lose game then I don't blame him, because he tried at least.

Dunn was the only one warming up though right? So it would've been Dunn. You can blame Don for not having someone else warmed up I suppose but then again, he's your closer and he's been damn good this year so its tough to make a change there.
