October 5, 20169 yr Just a thought, Ichiro is clearly "a Mariner" and always will be but having Ichiro here for 3, possibly four years, and being as productive as he has been so far, the Marlins part of his career is gaining some strength. He's no longer a legend finishing out his career half-assing it on a random team, like Dawson here, Boggs in Tampa Bay, Piazza in San Diego, Manny Ramirez in Tampa Bay, Smoltz on the Cardinals, Maddux on the Padres, etc. It's nice to have him be a real part of this team's history and I'm sure he feels like we're a nice part of his career.

October 5, 20169 yr So when do they have to decide on Rodney's option? Scoop was implying that they won't pick it up. Man that's something. Not that long ago it was definitely getting picked up because it was cheap but he fell so hard and so fast that not even being cheap is enough now.

The problem is that he's not even that cheap any more. For $2 million, you consider it. But with incentives now, the option is more like $4.5 million...and he certainly isn't worth that given the way he pitched here. I'd rather use that money toward the rotation.
