Rodney will get a $400,000 buyout instead after registering a disappointing 5.89 ERA in 36 2/3 innings out of the Miami bullpen. He had a 0.31 ERA in 28 2/3 innings with the Padres before the Marlins acquired him on June 30 for minor league right-hander Chris Paddack. Rodney will turn 40 years old next March and is probably going to have to settle for a minor league contract this winter if he wants to continue his playing career.
