Because if you don't get Jansen, then there will probably be a rebuild, and those are hard to get through.

My plan would have been brilliant. Have kept Capps, sign Koji, sign Encarnacion. Trade Ozuna and Bour for pitching. That's not too much financial risk. Then re-assess next offseason on whether or not to buy or sell.

Thing about this, you can't give up the 14th pick and then decide to rebuild a year later. Sure, you can make some trades and replenish the farm system, but It cripples a way to get a top end talent.
