Admin
“It was pretty cool,” said first baseman Justin Bour, who made the drive from Jupiter to Miami with reliever Kyle Barraclough to cheer on Christian Yelich and Giancarlo Stanton, teammates and members of the U.S. team. Bour said that when he and Barraclough rode up the ballpark elevator, they blended in with the rest of the crowd. Nobody recognized them. “Barraclough and I were laughing about it because we got on the elevator and there was a whole bunch of people wearing Marlins gear,” Bour said. “They had no idea.” Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/fish-bytes/article137942038.html#storylink=cpy

fish53
Spare me-when I see athletes from our teams in public anywhere, I leave them alone and mostly they appreciate it.

SilverBullet
Spare me-when I see athletes from our teams in public anywhere, I leave them alone and mostly they appreciate it. I'm the same way. If it's a Marlin or someone I actually am a genuine fan of I try and give them some acknowledgment when appropriate but that's about it. I "met" Jose Fernandez at a gas station once. We crossed paths, I was wearing Marlins gear so he did a double take and made eye contact with me, I basically smiled, tipped my cap and said hey and he gave me half a smile and a nod acknowledging me and said hey back and that was it. And that was enough for me. Many people have asked me why I didn't stop him to get a picture and an autograph. I'm sure he would have hated the attention at that moment. I felt like, as small as my gesture was, he probably appreciated what I did more than if I had made a scene and then suddenly he hates me for bringing attention to him in that situation. With that said, if I was in an elevator with 2 Marlins, that's a least a moment to say hello and made get a quick word in there with them and not exactly a moment to 100% ignore them.
