September 27, 20178 yr Get over yourself guy. We know what it means. Most of us can take a logical guess that he would very likely waive it if the team around him was traded. You aren't smarter or better than us so please stop acting that way.
September 27, 20178 yr Get over yourself guy. We know what it means. Most of us can take a logical guess that he would very likely waive it if the team around him was traded. You aren't smarter or better than us so please stop acting that way. When did I say I was smarter or better than anyone? I haven't tried making this personal with anyone. The no trade clause is huge and people still act like it's 100% that he's getting traded when it isn't because the no trade clause is the biggest obstacle to a trade. Your "logical guess" that he'd waive it is just an assumption. You don't know what he's thinking. Nobody does.
September 27, 20178 yr @SilverBullet1929 This is where you made it seem as if you're smarter than us because you "realize" what that means while others don't. As if we don't comprehend what a no-trade clause is. It is a logical guess that he would waive it since he's made it known in the past he wants to play for a contender and he's tired of losing. Ok, I wasn't trying to be condescending but I'll admit my wording there sure sounded like it. I can apologize for that one... I think my point still stands though. He's said he wants to play for a contender but he has also said he likes playing in Miami and the thought that he wants to leave is exaggerated and not necessarily true. Bottom line is we don't know either way.
September 28, 20178 yr If they can get through next season then at least a bunch of money comes off the books after that. But all kinds of problems loom.
September 28, 20178 yr Loria gone for openning day,, They should make a statue of him sitting in his seat and install it there permanently as if he's creepily watching the games at all times. It'll look even funnier when there's no game going on and the statue is still there.

September 28, 20178 yr The 85M in committed salary will be at least cut in half. I expect Stanton to go the Yanks for Greg Bird. Then Bour and another core piece to be attached to one or more big salary dumpster types. We know who they are. Expect this team to be uncompetitive next year.
September 28, 20178 yr im not going to opening day nex season,, if jeter makes marlins better than ok,,, but not if he trade for team
September 28, 20178 yr first time in 8 years im not going to openning day,, only if jeter not trade for team,
September 28, 20178 yr first time in 8 years im not going to openning day,, only if jeter not trade for team, First time in 8 years not going to Opening Day? So that means you've been to every Opening Day since 2010 right? If you were there for other bad ones like Opening Day 2013 and 2014 why wouldn't you go to Opening Day 2018? Honest question. Not you specifically but I'm amazed how many people wanna bail out now when we've gone through this before and pretty much in worse conditions every other time. It's not like we had ten straight playoff contending seasons and now we're suddenly gonna suck. News flash: We've sucked for a looooonnnnnggggg time now. I'm furious that we might go through another fire sale but I haven't once thought about not watching anymore. Loria is gone and you'd imagine the Sherman-Jeter era can only go upward from where we are now... so why give up?

September 29, 20178 yr I really hope Yelich stays. I think Bour and JT stay as well. Anyone else is up for grabs and players like Gordon and Ozuna would be good trade chips. I went to look at Yelich contract just now and this is the remaining breakdown: 2018: $7 million 2019: $9 million 2020: $12 million 2021: $14 million 2022: $15 million Yes when you look at what Stanton has done this year and if he continues to have more years like this his contract is market value, but it is a contract we can't handle. The Marlins said they did that with the intention of having Naming rights on the ballpark and a TV deal and here we are with neither. The time to have gotten a TV deal is when the Diamondbacks, Dodgers and other teams were cashing in. Obviously we couldn't because we were already stuck in ours. This is going to be a very busy offseason and probably not for the right seasons. They need to eat some of the money on the contracts of Zeigler, Tazawa, Prado because their value is very low. Good luck with Chen. lmao Regardless I will be watching every game. I been a fan since 95' and have endured every single fire sale. Just hoping for the best.
September 29, 20178 yr Also did anyone read the Herald article of Jose Fernandez telling his lawyer he wanted to sign here long term no matter what? Guess his lawyer finally broke that news a year later when we were all wondering that last year.
