Opening Day Lineup 2018

I didn't see much on the rotation predictions, fair to say they're just gonna suffer through 2018 and then 2019/20 will be when most of the better arms in the org would be ready to appear.

So Straily/Urena/Chen/Peters/Conley I guess.  Deal Straily maybe at the deadline.  Then you see who pans out over the next few years.  I still don't know that there's *top of the rotation* talent here (Alcantara is still seen as probably a #3) but with decent depth hopefully one or two will make strides.  The list could grow of course if there's additional deals.

MLB's estimate earliest arrival year, # ranked pitcher in marlins org (based on mlb.com rankings):

2018 crop:  Zac Gallen (8), Jeff Brigham (9), Cody Poteet (10)

2019 crop: Sandy Alcantara (1), Jorge Guzman (2), Braxton Garrett (4), Nick Neidert (5), Sam Perez (13), Brandon Miller (15), Trevor Richards (14), Pablo Lopez (17)

2020 crop: Tyler Kolek (6), Merandy Gonzalez (7), Colton Hock (11), Ryan Lillie (12), Edward Cabrera (16),

2021: Trevor Rogers (3)

*also I'm going to post constant reminders that we just traded Stanton and Ozuna and didn't get back a single top #100 prospect.

I think Trevor Richards has a real shot of being called up next year.  He was fairly dominant last season in both Jupiter and Jacksonville.  If he gets off to a strong start in AAA he should be up by the break.

Neidert, Gallen and Alcantara should also get to see MLB time next season.

gallen especially given his time in AAA already.  To me, all those guys should be up as soon as we get that extra year of team control a few months into the season.  Would be stupid and short sighted to do otherwise given where we're expected to be standings wise next year.

It's going to depend on trades and performance obviously but I agree they should be up next year.

You'd hope that Urena continues to improve and that Peters pans out.  You also have to pitch Chen if healthy (big if) because of the contract and Straily is a given until traded.

Conley is the wild card.  Are we going to get the Conley of 2017 or the Conley of 15 and 16? Either way there should be plenty of opportunities for the young guys.

Based on its tenderness from last year it wouldn’t be shocking if Chen’s elbow exploded.  I’m going to be interested to see if Conley or Urena make progress.

I hope this actually happens on the mound live during a game. You'll see actual coins flying out like when you break something in a Lego video game.

How much service time has Urena accumulated? Is he arb eligible next year? I know he was optioned a lot the past couple years with the exception of last year.

Conley's velocity has been the issue he was throwing 88-89 at one point and then comes back from the Minors and starts throwing 93-94.

Chen has to pitch if he is healthy.
