April 21, 20197 yr Benching him in favor of galloway and herrera won't help either though. The problem is that we don't have solid prospects to bring up when herrera or the Son struggle...instead its this stream of guys like dean, O'Brien, galloway, etc which aren't going to be part of any long term situation. Dammit i hate the marlins.
April 21, 20197 yr At this point they should send brinson down though. He’s personally frustrated and he’s not doing well in any aspect of the game right now. Even if a place holder plays OF for now. It would be good for brinson to spend some time in the minors.

I actually disagree in the sense that Herrera is doing exactly what he's supposed to do and that's be a defense first super utility guy, he's doing that fine. He's only taking up a roster spot that would otherwise go to a guy like Yadiel Rivera. Brinson is taking up a roster spot that should be occupied by a strong hitting star of the team which he isn't being.
April 21, 20197 yr The Marlins should do one of 2 things. Play Brinson every day or send him to AAA. I think he should go to AAA for a couple weeks personally. What they shouldn't do is what they did the past two games, have him sit on the bench.

Bench his ass for the majority of a week... then put him back in the starting lineup and if he fails then you send him down. Remember, and people seem to hate hearing this, he already crushed AAA pitching so he doesn't have too much to prove there. Also I think a bunch of it is mental so that's what the extended break does. With that said yes don't bench him for long or its counterproductive and yes I think he still ends up in AAA for a stint anyways. I just think it's ok to try the benching briefly first.

But man if he's overthinking so much maybe he needs more than physical work so to speak. He needs a wake up call, a slap in the mouth.
April 21, 20197 yr I think its mostly mental at this point. He's a local guy and was traded for Yelich who ended up becoming a superstar...i think he is letting it get to him. He has the potential to be at least average/mediocre, but he is not letting himself be at least that, due to the expectations and pressure on him
