7/18 Padres vs Marlins

Featured Replies

Lamet vs. Smith.

Mattingly needs to start yelling at these umps.  The strike zone issues continue today.

Lol. I was looking for the replay of last night's game and started watching. Then realized this is live.

0-0 end of the first.

Yep.

Yet another bogus strike 3 call.  Haven’t seen Mattingly say a word.

The Padres must’ve paid off the ump crew

I don't get why Holly keeps bringing up the Padres errors as "evening out" the terrible strike zone.

Tayron is garbage along with Chen and Conley. Absolutely can’t throw strikes and has only one pitch.  3 guys that shouldn’t see the light of day in a close game.

dammit BA we could've just sac bunted Cooper to 3rd.   Anderson's been kinda meh at the plate.

and so the question is there: When the rebuild is pretty much over, is BA gonna be here or do we upgrade?  I think we'll have someone better by then

I don't know about that. BA has the potential to hit for decent average with a bit of pop. He isn't super fast but he is a smart base runner and he is above average defensively with the ability to play out of position at just as high a level. Not a perfect ballplayer by any stretch, but I would say he is average to above average at every aspect. Besides, when is the last time the Marlins had a consistent third baseman that we could rely on? Maybe Cantu, but the position was a massive hole for a lot of years.

when has he consistently played third?

I just think we'll have someone with a better bat eventually... BA is average, I think we can do better

yeah good question.  I think odds are he'll be a part of it.  He has some time I think - partly because he's not blocking anyone at the moment.

BA is average/solid but I don't think is bat is impact enough to eventually be in the line-up down the road.... maybe it's because I want to see a better batting average and a bit more power from him, who knows (or I have expectations for a very dangerous 1  thru 8 line-up at some point)
