September 25, 20196 yr We are partly in agreement. I love Rendon. Who wouldn’t? I also don’t think the Marlins have him in their plans this winter. Where we differ are that I don’t think Rendon would ever come here because a player of his caliber is going to get multiple offers and he’s going to take one from a contender. I’m also thinking we aren’t at that stage yet to offer him but after going back and forth on this I’m beginning to maybe change my mind on that one. Rendon will sign with the team that offers him the most money. It’s really that simple.
September 25, 20196 yr I don't think it hurts that the Marlins, despite losing over 100 games, do feel like they're more on the way up than down. Like I wouldn't think Rendon would take an Orioles or Tigers offers even if they were the highest dollar amounts.

If we’re being completely realistic he’s getting multiple offers and many of those are going to come from teams that are currently good. Perhaps even his current team. Until something major happens I’m going to remain skeptical that free agents with attractive choices would choose Miami. The team has a lot to prove to free agent players edit correct autocorrect

Let me rephrase what I meant. Dtrain says Rendon will go to the highest bidder but I think if the highest bidder was Baltimore Detroit or KC then Rendon would decline. But if the highest bidder was Miami then we would at least have a chance because our rebuild is looking upwards.

If Grandy can't find any work as a player, I'd love to have him back in a coaching / special services to the team type capacity. He's got such a great presence and I think his leadership would be awesome to have going forward. Are teams allowed to have more than one bench coach? Like an assistant bench coach?

Probably wouldn't be a bench coach but I'm 99% sure teams can have a couple of extra coaches and they almost make up titles for them. Don't we have Brian Schneider as a catching coach/coordinator? And we had Ed Lucas and Pat Shine as the replay "coach" but they were always around the team during warm ups giving advice etc etc. I've seen other things like that with other teams too. Coaching staffs aren't as defined as they used to be.
September 27, 20196 yr I think I'm more excited for the upcoming offseason than I was for this past regular season. With the team sucking right now the wheeling and dealing is more exciting than the actual games and, since we all kinda feel like the rebuild is closer to the addition phase as opposed to subtractions, then it sure feels like we could have a fun offseason this year.
September 27, 20196 yr Picked a team randomly to look at their coaching staff and the Reds have 11 coaches with titles that include an Associate Coach, an Assistant Coach, a Game Planning Coach, and assistants for both the hitting and pitching coaches... so yeah it's definitely very open as to what is allowed to be on the coaching staff.
