Season starts off with Brewers and Cubs at 2:20 Eastern.

Then we got:

Guardians / Royals (4:10)

Pirates / Cardinals (4:15)

Mets / Nationals (7:05)

Reds / Braves (8:08)

Astros / Angels (9:38)

Padres / Diamondbacks (9:40)

Red Sox / Yankees and Mariners / Twins postponed.

Anyone watching a particular game today besides Das watching the Cardinals?

Wasn't there a thing where the Reds had to be in the first game if possible? Maybe that got screwed over because of the postponed start but anyone else remember this "tradition?"

There have been a whole bunch of times lately where they haven't been within the last decade. 2012 was one, 2013 another, you have those season opening games overseas that MLB has done ... that "tradition" hasn't been honored in a while now. heh.

Got it, but for anyone wondering the loose/unofficial tradition was that the Reds always opened at home and were usually the first game played each season. I remember this because in 2012 the Marlins had a weird Reds home opener time and it's because it was in Cincinnati. (Marlins Park opened on 4/4 and then the Marlins had a 4:10 game the next afternoon in Cincy)

In the beginning it was kind of a happy accident based on weather and geography and scheduling and then one Reds owner noticed and took advantage of this and pushed to make it an official thing in the city and this led to Opening Day being like a holiday in Cincinnati with parades and such. By now it's been changed around enough times that it's not something stuck to as much.

Gonna watch Brewers/Cubs because its the first one of the day.

Then switching to Pirates/Cardinals to see our future Centerfielder in action.

Then Flipping between the NL east team games between taking my daughter to Girls Scouts.

Then the one I am really excited to watch is the Astros/Angels because both teams I think are gonna be fighting for the division all season.

I am currently watching the Masters.  This is my happy day!

The mother of a guy I work with is the one who actually does the closed captioning for this years Masters. They let her know just a couple days ago that she was doing it this year.  Random story but kinda wild nontheless.

I always take opening day off and try to watch as many as I can. However, since I live in Gainesville, I am blacked out of the Braves (As well as the Rays and Marlins) so I will have to listen to that one rather than watch.

So.....you're blacked out of all of them?  How does that even make sense?

Yeah. That part of North Central Florida is kind of in the sweet spot between all three teams. I am basically equidistant between Miami and Atlanta. Still not nearly as absurd as Iowa.

@Iowa knows what I mean.

Maybe a dumb question but I'm not positive of the answer, if you're blacked out of a game that includes the opponent's feed as well right?

Like for this weekend if you're blacked out from the Marlins game you can't just watch the Giants game/broadcast right?

Yep.

I can only listen to the radio broadcast for both teams unless I get a vpn.

I just can't understand how that results in access to zero teams?  Seems incredibly stupid to me.

You'd think they'd want to grow viewership and give you access to ALL 3!

Get yourself a good VPN and put your location to another city where your able to watch MLB TV.  I do this when the Marlins are in DC.  I live in Northern VA and FP Santangelo (thank god he is gone) might be the WORST broadcaster in MLB history.  I put vpn in  St. Louis so I am able to watch the Marlins broadcast.
