I wonder if anyone is allowed to enter this area now, or if you need to have a ticket for just this "Recess" area like before? In order to give that area more foot traffic, I'd make it open to anyone in the park with access via the stairway in CF, and any seating (if there still is seating there?) is first come first serve. I've actually never been down there because you had to buy Clevelander-specific tickets before. Honestly, I feel like the pool was never used and was kind of hidden away to where you wouldn't want to hang out in it during a game. Reality is the Clevelander contract was probably up and they didn't renew so they didn't have an idea of what to do with it, until someone apparently said "let's do the same thing" I agree with your idea of it being a fun area - if sand weren't messy, I'd almost say have it be like a beach area......along with my thought above of making it all first come first serve......essentially another SRO section, but with some seats. When's the last time you've been to any sporting event? lol Yeah, it is kinda strange. I've driven by somewhat recently, but also wasn't looking closely to see any exterior changes. They added that massive exterior fence too, so I can't really get closer to look around like I could before. Also haven't been to a game since pre-covid. Unless they closed/removed kitchens in the original Jeter remodel, that's a BS excuse. So what there's nobody there to take an order, just to serve the food? And then you go to a kiosk? What's there 1 kiosk? If you're going to do that, there should be at least several per stand. I dislike how everything is going cashless. I get it from some perspectives, but sometimes I just want to use cash. The Recess lounge needs "reservations" during the game because you get an actual table apparently but wouldn't shock me if they did the thing where after the game its open for everyone as a post-game hang out aka decent place to wait for traffic to die down. Yea I'm sure the Clevelander contract just wasn't renewed and they really just couldn't think of anything more creative down there. Actually when he mentioned food prices Erick was referencing the menu in the Recess lounge, click it and you'll see its insanely high even for a sporting event. Yes sometimes I wanna use cash too.
April 16, 20224 yr Author So the vendors who walk the aisles like beer and cotton candy don't take cash either? Wtf?

Would be hilarious if they pass the device but it's not wireless and there's a cable laying over about a dozen people as you insert your card into the device.

There is no one taking your order, you enter on one side then take your receipt to the “pick up” side and wait to hear your number. The only places that don’t do that I believe are the stand alone vendors in the carts (the bar carts, philly cheese steak gril cart, etc). The whole park is cashless now though. Even the guys With the ice buckets that come down the rows and sell beer at your seat. Which I gotta say, I think he came down once or twice. I know this cause I was dying to buy a beer from him to not have to make those lines but he was MIA from like the second inning on. Oh that's strange, wish we had a picture for reference - a lot of those didn't have a huge front to begin with, so it's interesting that they'd chop them in half. So with this "Cheq" app, could you also order on an app and not wait in line/not have to deal with that ordering kiosk thing? Not saying the kiosk would be difficult, but if I could just order and not wait in line and just pick it up, I'd rather do that than miss an entire 1.5-2 innings just waiting in line. 8 hours ago, SilverBullet said: Totally cashless is stupid. Having cashless options for convenience is great but being completely cashless is dumb. What happens to the 9 year old kid who has some cash that grandma gave him to go buy some peanuts or whatever? Screwing that kid over and losing money on a potential sale. Same thing for the kiosks, have the option but don't make it the only option. I agree, if anything do like most places do and have separate cash and credit lines, and limit a cash line to one and have multiple cashless lines? 8 hours ago, SilverBullet said: The Recess lounge needs "reservations" during the game because you get an actual table apparently but wouldn't shock me if they did the thing where after the game its open for everyone as a post-game hang out aka decent place to wait for traffic to die down. Yeah, I know, those prices did seem absurd even for food at a park. I still reference the Atlanta Falcons model at Mercedes Benz Stadium where they made all the food cheap and sales/profits actually increased. I know the Marlins tried a hybrid approach with that 305 menu thing having some inexpensive items, while also having more expensive stuff. I will say, at least most of the food is better than other parks/stadiums for the prices your paying....or at least they have been in the past, unless it's changed this year. 7 hours ago, SonOfJack said: I remember having to pass cash along the entire row sometimes, what happens now? Technically you could but for example, my girlfriend wanted a burger from Pincho but pincho’s menu wasn’t on the app so I couldn’t order ahead. I’m sure it’ll improve with time but then it’s like the express lanes on the highway. It only works if a limited number of people use it. If all the people who weren’t going to get up and get food because the lines are long all start putting in mobile orders cause they don’t want to wait, they’ll overload the kitchens and then they’ll have to wait even longer than If they’d gone in person. It’s what’s been happening at a lot of restaurants that went curbside-heavy recently. So we’ll see how that goes!

This reminds me of the Chick Fil A near me that always has like a 45 minute long drive thru line but if you just get out of your car and go inside there's only like one or two people ahead of you.

Your Chick-fil-A is doing it wrong then with their drive-through. The ones I've used, always been fast, even with hella long lines. Once saw a line wrapped around the building twice and nearly went into the street. Still got through there in like 15 minutes.

There's no perfect way to do it. 2 hours ago, SilverBullet said: This reminds me of the Chick Fil A near me that always has like a 45 minute long drive thru line but if you just get out of your car and go inside there's only like one or two people ahead of you. I agree you're right, though my Chick-Fil-A goes pretty quickly even with a long line. 26 minutes ago, Michael said: Your Chick-fil-A is doing it wrong then with their drive-through. I might be exaggerating on the wait time as I choose to skip the drive thru but visually there's literally one or two people in the inside line and like 30 to 40 cars outside in the drive thru line. Even with efficiency in the drive thru I know I'm getting out of there quicker by going inside than going through the drive thru.
