April 14, 20224 yr Looks like they finally opened up something where the Clevelander was and it's called Recess Sports Lounge. A sports lounge setting with unique food and drinks and a great view of the field along with a DJ and something about South Florida culture and vibe... So after all this stink about the Clevelander being removed they replaced it with something that's pretty much the same thing just without the pool??? That's weird as hell to me. Oh well, not really caring about all this decorative type crap anymore. I'm sure it's nice and all that as this ownership has done a lot of great upgrades in that department but I'm over caring about anything other than the on field product anymore. https://www.mlb.com/marlins/ballpark/recess-sports-lounge
April 14, 20224 yr Author After making such a big deal about every ballpark and game day experience upgrade for their first couple of seasons it feels like they've been pretty quiet about changes the last couple of seasons, just rolling things out without any fanfare, so if anyone stumbles across something new or that hasn't been brought up before please post about it in here. Negative things/things that were removed too please.

April 14, 20224 yr Author Yea this isn't gonna last because of those prices. Why would I choose to go there? They already have a pricier section with the Diamond Club, everywhere else should be affordable. If anything maybe the whole point of that Clevelander area should be making it the cheapest/laziest/most relaxed part of the ballpark? Like the concept of upper deck cheap seats but with that unique field level view? That's how I'd do that area.
April 14, 20224 yr Can you all rename the "Off Topic" forum to the "Recess Lounge"? It has a nice ring to it.

April 15, 20224 yr park was fun, but lines for food were over 40 minutes long and several of the locations were closed because "there aren't enough kitchens to make that food" Seemed like they weren't expecting 31,000 people to show up!

Yeah the lines were ridiculous! But it’s cause you can no longer pay cash and the cashiers have all been replaced by a digital ordering kiosk and 90% of the people I saw using them didn’t know what they were doing. Or a few times the receipt printer would Lose connection with the computer so you have to wait till someone comes to reboot everything. Oh and a few idiots who took 5 mins to complain to the people serving the food about not being able to modify any food items like they’re at freaking Arby’s. Once your order was in though, I gotta say, it was served quickly. But yeah, those lines to order were unacceptable.

Eh, to be fair, it's opening weekend, attendance should be solid and winning the opener will make a difference. I'd be more skeptical about the next homestand once the novelty of opening week wears off. Plenty of people go for the opening weekend out of hype and "tradition" but never go again until the next season.

I wonder if anyone is allowed to enter this area now, or if you need to have a ticket for just this "Recess" area like before? In order to give that area more foot traffic, I'd make it open to anyone in the park with access via the stairway in CF, and any seating (if there still is seating there?) is first come first serve. I've actually never been down there because you had to buy Clevelander-specific tickets before. Honestly, I feel like the pool was never used and was kind of hidden away to where you wouldn't want to hang out in it during a game. Reality is the Clevelander contract was probably up and they didn't renew so they didn't have an idea of what to do with it, until someone apparently said "let's do the same thing" I agree with your idea of it being a fun area - if sand weren't messy, I'd almost say have it be like a beach area......along with my thought above of making it all first come first serve......essentially another SRO section, but with some seats. They added that massive exterior fence too, so I can't really get closer to look around like I could before. Also haven't been to a game since pre-covid. And then you go to a kiosk? What's there 1 kiosk? If you're going to do that, there should be at least several per stand. I dislike how everything is going cashless. I get it from some perspectives, but sometimes I just want to use cash. Edited April 16, 20224 yr by rmc523

If you're going to do that, there should be at least several per stand. I dislike how everything is going cashless. I get it from some perspectives, but sometimes I just want to use cash. Each location (ex: Fowl pole, pincho, SuViche, etc) basically closed half of its frontage off with big purple signs advertising the new process that uses an app called “cheq” and placed a few ordering kiosks on the counter area where you would typically have ordered at a register (think a really big tablet where you create your order and pay). There is no one taking your order, you enter on one side then take your receipt to the “pick up” side and wait to hear your number. The only places that don’t do that I believe are the stand alone vendors in the carts (the bar carts, philly cheese steak gril cart, etc). The whole park is cashless now though. Even the guys With the ice buckets that come down the rows and sell beer at your seat. Which I gotta say, I think he came down once or twice. I know this cause I was dying to buy a beer from him to not have to make those lines but he was MIA from like the second inning on.
April 16, 20224 yr Author Totally cashless is stupid. Having cashless options for convenience is great but being completely cashless is dumb. What happens to the 9 year old kid who has some cash that grandma gave him to go buy some peanuts or whatever? Screwing that kid over and losing money on a potential sale. Same thing for the kiosks, have the option but don't make it the only option.
