October 1, 20223 yr Will not make the start Wednesday in what could be a deciding game for the NL East. Sandy wanted to make the start but someone decided he will not. I don't know who is in charge currently so that would be anyone's guess.
October 1, 20223 yr lol one last awful move by Don on his way out. Home fans never knew when Sandy threw the last pitch of his Cy Young season.

October 2, 20223 yr What a great year for Sandy. I’ve only watched every 5th day for like the last month because he’s been on the mound. Incredible pitcher and has carried himself like a leader off the field, as well. I told myself a long time ago that I would never buy a player jersey again, but I might buy his. He’s already one of my fav Marlins ever. Also, if they give the Cy Young to Julio Urias, I say we boycott baseball.

On the pitching side he has a gigantic lead over the next closest. Even if you value other stats, Sandy is such a clear cut winner this year that he'd almost be looked at for MVP too if the Marlins were front-runners (yeah, I know the MVP USUALLY goes to position players but he's been so good this season that he might get a vote or two had the fish not been horrid). so yeah, he won't win the Cy lol
October 3, 20223 yr I'm not one to say pitchers should win the MVP but what percentage of Marlins wins were Sandy's starts? If there was ever one starting pitcher who was the most valuable to his club's success compared to his teammates it's Sandy in 2022.

As of right now, Sandy Starts accounted for 28.79% of Marlins wins (19/66). That could remain or decrease slightly in the next three days but over a quarter of the wins.
October 3, 20223 yr Pablo Starts were 22.7% team wins this year (15/66). So those two accounted for more than half the wins, basically.

It only works because the Marlins don't have many wins total but I can't imagine there's anyone with that high of a percentage on other teams right? If we're talking value of a single player, a winning team has to have more contributors as a whole, meaning there isn't gonna be as large of a gap between the contributions of one player over the rest of the team. Sandy "should" at least get some MVP votes.
October 3, 20223 yr Did you all see how the Cardinals had Wainwright, Pujols, and Future Marlins Manager Yadier Molina come off the field at the same time in the last home game so that fans could cheer for them? That (on a smaller scale of course) is what Sandy deserved to wrap up his Cy Young season and the best pitching season in Marlins history, but Don Mattingly couldn't leave without one more enormous fuck up.
