I only signed up because there was a way to convert regular xbox gold into game pass for a very low amount at one time. I likely won't renew it since I only use it for MLB The Show and that wouldn't be cost effective. You lose access if you unsubscribe. I still have it until the end of 2024.

Makes sense, so you'd have to buy the game if you ever decided to unsubscribe. Though I guess if you play a lot of different games, by the time you'd finish, youd be onto the next one anyway, so losing it wouldn't matter.

The free games with gold are yours to keep as long as you stay subscribed though. FWIW games stay there a long time typically. MLB The Show 22 is still there.

Right - that's basically what I'm getting at - if you only play a few games and stick with them for months at a time, to me, you may as well buy the copy and have it permanently vs. losing it if you unsubscribe or if they decide to pull it off (apparently).

It's been decent - hitting feels more rewarding now when you square it up, pitches are punished more if you make a mistake.
